Brainy Pool left this review about Cross Keys

surprisingly does open on weekends although it needn’t bother as it tends to be dead. A bog standard pub, one of the dullest in the city in my opinion, but very popular with office workers due to its convenience for that area. It’s bland and very much a pubco feeling place inside.

Has now reopened. Its still exactly as before with its L-shaped room, small offshoot areas and business-suit knobs thinking they're all that. 3 handpumps on the bar with Doom Bore, some rugby themed beer called Sin Bin by Steam Box and Moorhouses Blonde Witch.

This pub, like the Lion Tavern on Tithebarn St has closed 15/6/16 due to a dispute between owners and landlord.

A bit hidden away in the business part of the city centre. A nice clean pub though it is a bit bland. Real ales are available and it is open at weekends, usually. Has a spiral staircase that goes, erm, up. Has those fake plastic privet things around the exterior.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Cross Keys

This was an early eve visit, mid week and the pub was quite busy with the local office workers. The pub has a bright interior and I have the idea that it is a bit 80's in style. There was three ales on handpump, so we went for the Castle Rock Harvest Pale. The pub serves food and another thing to note is they shut early some where between 8 and 9, depending how busy the pub is. Closed at weekends.

Old Boots left this review about Cross Keys

An odd back street pub that has obviously suffered from the attentions of ill trained pub “improvers”. Basically one long room with another small room at the back and a spiral staircase leading upstairs. Finished in trendy fashion there are odd shaped and probably impractical alcoves dotted about, furnishing is equally idiosyncratic with bench seats pretending to be sofas, proper sofas in too small a space and low tables coupled with normal height chairs. Carpeted throughout apart from the space by the bar counter which has stone tiles, the counter looks like an unrolled barrel. There are some interesting pictures and a lot of screens, young men especially forming the clientele. If bored with the sport on the screen you can look out the big clear windows at the back of some offices. There are also a lot of keg founts with only Leffe being of more than passing interest, two handpumps with the less than inspiring choice of Deuchars and Bombardier. My Bombardier tasted a bit bland and strangely smokey.
