not an area of Liverpool I am fond of, but I was surprised to find two handpulls in here serving White Rat and Cavern Ale. Lively place with a crowd pleasing guitarist/singer doing songs of the 70s. pretty much as you would expect on this street, it’s one of the better bars though.

E TA left this review about Cavern Pub

After a hard day’s night, two of us visited this iconic and historic bar which was a pleasant surprise given previous reviews and the obvious hype which surrounds it. For those who haven’t been, it’s a single room cellar bar with a stage for rock and roll music acts. The room has stone columns that carry that weight of the ceiling and the building above, and it’s in good decorative order. There is a smaller room at the back, but this is nothing special except that all the lonely people were in there. The walls are adorned with memorabilia from the music world, and one wonders what these would fetch at auction. Included among these are a Fender Stratocaster, a signed score of Yesterday and, bizarrely, Michael Jackson’s (the singer, not the General) leather jacket. There were two decent ales on draught, The Rat Brewery’s White Rat, which was in excellent condition, and Mobberly Brewhouse’s Cavern Ale, which wasn’t quite so good so we let it be. There was a half-decent three-piece band playing, and the clientele were a decent bunch having a good time, though some of the dancing was a bit helter skelter. I’d be happy to get back here next time I’m in Liverpool.

In the most overrated part of Liverpool. For the tourists. Plays non-stop Echo And The Bunnymen songs. Possibly.
