A narrow frontage opens into a corridor pub with the bar on the left hand side with seating directly opposite which means it's difficult to get past when it's full of bar leaners, which it was. At the rear it opens out a bit into another room. Full of old boys and a few old girls at 12 lunchtime on a Monday. They specialise in toasties and a few were coming in just for a takeaway toastie for their lunch. A fairly pedestrian range of beer, but my Timmy Taylors Boltmaker was in good nick. Lots of friendly banter going on with the barmaid. It's a proper locals local in the middle of the city centre.

You'd probably walk on past, but this would be a mistake. Somehow surviving the shopping centre construction, its a survivor.

Small and narrow inside but full of locals. Open early and offering a wide selection of full english or toastie breakfasts at a very good price.

5 real ales on cask. Alas, my TT Boltmaker was a drain pour and I was wary about making a fuss. It was changed with an apology and pump clip reversed, swapped with a courage directors which (like how these stories usually go) was excellent.

A very enjoyable visit and I will remember the value breakfasts if I am ever passing again!

proper Scouse pub this and well worth a visit for those trying to get to know the real character of the city. ok the beer choice isn't that exciting but it is friendly, has a great atmosphere and always seems to be full. loads of old fellas with their wives in here and it is a convenient place to stop before/after your shopping.

A nice little pub thankfully overlooked by the pissheads. A thin, narrow pub so can be belly to belly when busy.

Modern looking pub in a side street just off Liverpool’s main shopping area. The front has french doors and nice tiles, inside are two open plan rooms decorated in tasteful style. The front room is a longish narrowish public bar type room with a splendid wooden bar counter, bench seating, stools and unusal cast iron pedestal tables. There are masses of pictures on one wall, photos of warships and a display of RNLI material predominating. Four handpumps serving decent Pedigree, Courage Directors, Theakstons Best Bitter and Mild, there is also a fairly standard, ie Guinness, Fosters, 1664, etc, keg range. The part panelled rear room is more lounge styled with bench seating, stools and round wooden tables, a tasteful carpet and a nice fireplace, this room is surprisingly suburb for a city centre pub. Service was very slick from an experienced barmaid and the clientele was largely middle-aged.
