No significant changes since our last visit, the refurb seems to have ground to a halt. No matter the beer was excellent again. Very quiet on our Thursday afternoon visit, but that's only to be expected. We always visit the pub whenever we're in Liverpool.

Refurbishment still going strong with the servery now being back in the front room but directly facing you as you enter rather than being on the right. Access to the rear room is now via the Bows as the curved bit at the end is called. 5 beers all from their own brewery on the bar when we called last Sunday. The Wapping Summer Ale was a very good pint.

From a distance this wedged shaped building with chimneys painted as funnels, looks like an ocean going liner. The entrance now seems to be in the stern and leads directly to a tap room with bare floorboards,a banquette, circular tables,a fire door to the bow and a bar with seven handpumps serving on my trip four from the home Wapping brewery (Wapping,IPA,Stout and a very good Summer),a guest ale and a real cider.Between the front door and the bar there was a temporary entrance to the side lounge area and, carrying on to the bow area which looked the most interesting spot surrounded by elegant curved windows.
So the refurb continues, there was a wooden stable door where you could get served if drinking in the side lounge but I wonder if this pub is like a builders house, never quite finished. The exterior could also do with some sprucing up but the quality of the ale would always ensure that I would pay a visit here. It's proximity to The Albert Dock means you can get a decent pint if visiting this largest collection of Grade II listed buildings in the UK.

As below its difficult to rate this pub as half of it is under construction. Its near the albert Dock, but feels very isolated on the opposite side of the busy road with no complimentory buildings near by. Its quite basic but with potential.

The beer was ok

Best reviewed once the works are complete.

Pub SignMan left this review about Baltic Fleet

This interesting brewpub, situated opposite the Kings Dock and Echo Arena was partially closed on my recent visit, meaning that it wasn’t possible to get a proper feel of the place. Externally the pub bears more than a passing resemblance to a ship thanks to its wedge shape and liner-style chimneys. Entering through the back door due to the work being done at the front, there is a narrow back room with bare floorboards and scrubbed tables and benches plus a few small marble topped tables with low stools. Pictures from the docks in their heyday cover the walls and the eye is drawn to a fireplace at the end of the room which also serves a small cosier section at the thin end of the wedge. This seemed to be the best place to get a view out towards the dock, but it was full on my visit, so I had to sit near the short remaining stretch of bar counter and admire the old pub sign hung over the fireplace. The barman explained that the refurb, which resulted in the complete closure of the front room, began on the 27th February and the intention was to restore the pub’s original layout including a new servery and to make more of a feature of the outdoor patio area.
There were four beers on the bar, all from the Wapping brewery which is located in the pub’s basement. I tried the best bitter which is also called Wapping (£2.40) and thought it was a nice enough pint. The three other beers were all over 5% - Stout, Baltic Hefe Weiss Bier and Ten Years On which celebrates the brewery’s recent ten year anniversary.
It’s difficult to rate the pub given that half of it looked like a building site, but there was plenty of promise from what I saw and the good beer and friendly staff certainly make me keen to revisit so I can enjoy the pub in its proper state.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Baltic Fleet

Well worth a short walk from Liverpool One, and easy to find. On my arrival there was a fabulous aroma of hops from their brewing downstairs. Have to say the beers are excellent, their Wapping beers on handpump, which I throughly enjoyed were Wapping, Golden Promise IPA, Summer Ale and their excellent stout. I also enjoyed a superb bowl of scouse, which are made on premises. They also serve up some very good pies. Staff very friendly and know their stuff. Toilets spotless. Will defo return.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Baltic Fleet

Distinctive wedge-shaped building with bright red chimneys that can be seen from some distance along Liverpool's main dock-front road. Inside, the bar is rather smaller than you might expect, but there is still room for a proud display of handpumps from the in-house Wapping Beers microbrewey (including delights such as their fine stout at £2.65). With light paintwork, plain furniture and decor limited to a few nautical pictures and prints, it gives the impression of being part-way through a refurbishment (which may well be the case). Would particularly recommend getting a table in the little room at the pointed end if you can.

Had the pleasure of sampling the excellent brews this week when at a conference and staying accross the road. Unfortunately the drinking time was curtailed as the pub opening times on a wednesday are not as shown in GBG 2010. Note the pub closes at 11pm Wednesdays.

Old Boots left this review about Baltic Fleet

Home of the Wapping Brewery located a short distance from the Albert Dock, the Arena and Conference Centre one way and Liverpool One the other. Much better looking from the outside with its fresh paint work and highly articulated, flat iron or boat shape, the inside has been sadly abused over the years but is slowly being improved. Don't go here for charm of the place, there isn't much, however the beer can be sublime and truthfully is the only reason to visit. A mix of Wapping's magnificent beers, a guest ale or two, interesting european beers, an eclectic range of bottles, and a few UK kegs. Seating in the bar on benches and stools by britannia tables, there is a strange room at the back with kitchen tables and even less atmosphere, a more cosy front area in the “ship's bow” and a restaurant upstairs. Mostly tatty but a don't miss pub.

Spring 2010 update - the renovation is still ongoing and the interior looks a bit better everytime I go in, the beers are still sublime and it's still a don't miss pub.

Called in hoping for food as well as a drink of their own ales, but no food on a Monday. Did enjoy their own brewed Summer Ale and Blondie that was a blond wheat beer. Also had a bottle of the Belgian Dubuisson Cuvee des Trolls. Lovely pub.

Sam Millar left this review about Baltic Fleet

Located near the Albert Dock. It's interior is not in great condition but as Liverpool's only "brew pub" the main reason for a visit is to taste it's own "Wapping" ales. They are kept in good condition. In the Good Beer Guide 2010.
