Day trip to Liverpool July 2012 lunch for two, Classic and Gourmet burgers both good, washed down with Moorhouses Old Boss, a classic ale. Very good value, would always visit when in Liverpool.

Not a lot to say really as it was typical of a JDW. The wait when on a crawl of pubs with beautiful interiors and exteriors was a bit irritating given the lack of character in this one. It is in the 2011 Good Beer Guide, and the Wolf Coyote and Peerless Viking Gold were ok, but I have been in better ones.

Busy Wetherspoons outlet not to far from Lime Street Station.Called in one Saturday afternoon and sampled a couple of decent pints of Ringwoods Fortyniner.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Richard John Blackler (JD Wetherspoon)

Busy 'spoons on the ground floor of a large building on a corner site, with a long bar and and a longer wait for service. 12 handpumps visible, but an annoying number of beers were 'available soon'. My pint of Titanic Mild (£1.99) was fine, but I didn't really like the place (or the piles of uncleared clutter on the few free tables).

Like most 'spoons a very variable pub, sometimes the service is ok; at other times it is non-existant. Beer quality likewise varies. It's a JDW so you should know what you're going to get. One big U shaped room in an old department store. I've never stayed very long in here, either leaving without getting served or drinking up pretty quickly to go somewhere mediocre in preference.

Judging by the past comments we may just have been lucky when we visited. We had no problem getting served at about 10.30 on Friday night, there was a good range of beers available and we even stayed for two. I had a pint of Oakham White Dwarf and a Hawkshead Brodie's Prime and both were in good nick. The two staff who served me were both friendly enough so we didn't have any problems with the place. As for the decor, well it's a huge featureless JDW. Not bad at all.
