Wow this Pub has really changed recently, a load more beers on sale, full fridges, specials on three bottles and big brand lagers and bitters and they even do real ale again. I tried the Hob Goblin and Bombadier at £2.30 a pint and they do a light Priors organic ale at £1.50.
The staff seem to be really friendly not the usual miseries you get at some places and there seems to be new customers coming in from the MEN and the Green Quarter. The kitchen has been gutted out and they are now doing proper home cooked style foods to attract the workers that like a drink at lunch and after work. The new pricing structure seems to be attracting the right people to popularize the pub with new customers.
I was chatting with the new owner and landlady (Sylvia) she was telling me that the Sports channels would be on three TV screens in time for the start of the football season along with more real ales to bring in the old customers that have been lost by previous bad management.
They have just installed a new Juke box, the digital type that sounded great with some of my favourite song, a quiz and fruit machine seemed popular too.
There is definitely a different mix of people in there these days and being a sports fan I can't wait till Sundays charity shield match being shown live it will be a great atmosphere.
I can definitely recommend the fresh spicy shish kebabs and the real ales and on a warm day the Beer garden is fabulous.

I was in the Queens Arms yesterday, the new owner Sylvia has Bambadier Directors and Priors Real Ales , the pint was perfect and on special offer too. they have a wide range of other beers, Carlsberg, Stella, Carling, San Miguel, Guinness, Tetleys Smooth, Boddingtons, Becks, Strongbow as well as the usual wines and bottles.
The staff were very friendly as were the customers from the local industrial area and the new Green Quarter apartments, and the 5 star Park Hotel!.
The new digital Juke Box with 38000 songs was great as it was just loud enough without deafing me as to was the Quiz and fruit Machine that were busyily being played in the second lounge areas.
They haver a great Beer Garden out back with kids swings and grass area, the tables are undercover too. There is also a full under cover stage in the Garden if you want to party.
She has spent a lot of time ond money cleaning the place up with a re-paint inside and out too, A new kitchen with good food is planned for next month too.
Give it a try, its one of only a few old style pubs left. I'd give it a 10 once I have tred out the new food menu.

Once upon a time this pub was a fixture on the N4 Manchester pub crawl and was in the GBG for several years. It was then sold to a complete numpty who decided that his customers didn't want real ale. They did, and after a while it shut. Happily it's now reopen again and on Friday had two beers from Phoenix on the handpumps Navvy and Hopsack, both at the amazing price of £1.90 a pint. I had a pint of the Hopsack which was very good. The pub's had a bit of a spruce up on the inside, especially the toilets which certainly needed it. On the negative side the pinball machine has been removed and there were two sweary blokes in the pub who couldn't speak without fffing and this was despite the fact that the barmaid/landlady's young daughter was in the pub. Overall I'm glad it's reopen, but it's going to be a long hard slog to get it back to where it was.

Sadly the Queens Arms closed in September 2009 and is currently boarded up. Its fortunes declined after the previous long-established landlord left some months earlier and the accent on real ale went with him. Ironically the surrounding area has become more residential in recent years but it seems the occupants of these city centre apartments (if there are any occupants and they are not all just held as investments) do not seem to appreciate traditional pubs, as this once was.

The Queens Arms was a small two roomed pub in an industrial area when i visited it.
Once inside i went in a smallish room that was quite comfortable,there were three real ales on the bar and i had a drink of Timothy Taylor Landlord and this was a very nice well kept pint the other beers were Wadworths 6X and Theakston XB.
This was a nice enough pub to have a couple of drinks in.
