A super marble facade with fancy brickwork above, housing a stunning tiled interior with mosaic and tiled floor, glazed bricks, a tiled ceiling and a tiled freize listing the drinks sold, Ale, Porter, Gin, Port, Whiskies, Cordials, Wines etc, running all round. The bar counter sits at the bottom end of the sloping floor, 10 hand pumps, seven of which dispense Marble beers from the brewery next door, with microbreweries ales on the other three (Millstone, Liverpool Organic and Bank Top). As it's the brewery tap the beers are in fine condition. There is a small collection of european beers and a couple of UK kegs also available. Bench seats with separate tables line both sides of the room down the slope, supplemented by some cast iron bar stools. Although food is served in the main room, there is a fairly basic looking dining area at the back.

I used to love to come to this pub, but it has decided to showcase their own beers, and when we called in yesterday every pump had Marble beers on. OK that is not a problem, but when you are looking for new micros it is one I may not get to now. We got a table in the back dining area, and had the fish and chips which were excellent but at nearly £9 a bit dear. Had their Stouter Stout and Port Stout which were in good condition, but would like to see a couple of pumps with guests on. Yes the decor of the pub is very unusual, and the old tiling near the ceiling has to be seen. Always packed so very popular.

Still the best in Manchester for both beer and atmosphere. It's got a great looking interior as well (beware of the sloping floor). Full of postmen from across the road at knocking off time and almost always busy. Great selection of cask ales from Marble themselves and several guests plus a decent range of bottled ones. Don't miss it when in Manchester.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Marble Arch

10 handpumps, including 4 beers brewed on the premises. Even some decent imported draught lager for those so inclined (but why not try the real stuff?). Great tiled interior. A good 'local' atmosphere, but any visitor to Manchester ought to seek this place out.

Very old traditional single bar pub with its own brewery out the back which you can see on the way to the toilets. 8 ales on tap which includes guests and their own brews. only downside was the food which was not up to standard other than that a very nice pub with old tiles on walls and ceiling. beware when you leave as there is a sloping floor

This is a small pub at the bottom end of rochdale road which looked a bit run down when i went in here.
Once inside i went into a room that unaltered and and seemed fairly basic.
There was no brewery here at the time of my visit and the pub was operating as a free house, there were four real ales on the bar i had a drink of Robinsons bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Pedigree,London Pride and Banks's mild.

Pub visited 8/5/1993
