The Horse and Jockey is an upmarket Holts pub with a U shaped bar on the right hand wall. I counted eight handpumps that were drawing a mix of Bitter, Mild, Two Hoots and Bootleg’s Fools Gold. The usual Holts keg is also available. Most of the pub is taken for dining, the cheeseburger is priced at £12.95. There is a strip of seating in the front right of the pub that acts as the bar area. Steps from here lead up to another area that was being used for an art exhibition. I don’t see myself returning here.

A pleasant enough place though a bit sterile in atmosphere. A large pub with a central U-shaped bar. 8 handpumps with 4 from Holts, 4 from Bootleg and 2 others for guest ales I guess. It seems a family friendly place and as I was in here as the local school had just vomited kids I ended up stuck in the middle of mother and child noise.

I did call in again as part of a midweek early evening crawl and the place had a totally different feel. The Hooray Henrys were all at work, so the place was full of "Yummy Mummies" who to be honest were still a bit pretentious. My pint of Bootleg Contrbrand was in good nick and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I'll up it a point for the second visit.

Quite an old pub dating from the early 1800's but it has a "Brewers Tudor" facade. The inside has been refurbished fairly recently and it now has an upstairs restaurant and its own brewery (Bootleg). There's a large central bar with several areas off that obviously used to be different rooms. The menu and the clientele seemed quite pretentious to me and there was quite a lot of loud upmarket braying going on by people probably called Jeremy or Shelley. I stood at the bar for quite some time as the one person behind it tried to serve several waiting customers. Just after I got served 5 other barstaff appeared and milled around with nothing to do. Someone needs to manage this lot much better. 6 handpumps on the bar, but only 3 beers available. I tried a half of Bootleg Chorlton Pale and Kelham Island Dunkel Devastation, both were in very good nick. The pub is in the CAMRA GBG2013. I'd probably give this place another try next time I'm in Chorlton just for the beer. With any luck the clientele will have disappeared up their own arses by then.

Great pub for sitting outside in summer in the old part of Chorlton. Opposite the village green.
