To the left of the entrance of the Duke of York is a U-shaped bar that supports a standard keg range alongside Heineken (£2.90 a pint), Amstel and Kaltenberg Royal Lager, new one to me. Between the right wall and the bar is a dartboard and to the left of the entrance is a pool table. In the left rear of the pub is a seating area. There was a good atmosphere during my visit on Monday, which was due to the dart team playing at home. There was some background music playing. This isn’t a spectacular pub, but I found the service and customers to be very friendly so will pop back in when next in Eccles.

A large looking pub that's in dire need of a refurb. Its friendly enough but like most pubs in Eccles there's nothing to make you get a 2nd drink in the place unless you live here. Nice looking exterior, not so inside. No real ale.

ROB Camra left this review about Duke Of York

This is a very large multi roomed pub in the centre of town. There's a pool table to the left as you enter. There's a large bar with lots of bar leaners swapping banter with the barman. Sadly there was no real ale, so I had a half of Guinness. It's a very friendly pub, but the lack of ale made me move on.

The Duke of York is situated in the centre of Eccles, with 4 drinking areas, high ceilings, three fireplaces and a collection of Victorian photos adorning the walls. After hearing about the refurbishment I was a little apprehensive that the pub would have been modernised, but no far from it,in fact in if you walk past the bar to the area on the right,it is like you have been taken back to the 1950's.Enjoyed my visit here, although I just found the Joseph Holt Black a tad on the cold side. Worth a visit

The Duke of York is a large old three storey pub that is in the middle of Eccles.
Once inside the pub had a few different rooms and we had a drink in a smart and comfortable lounge, the pub was a free house when we visited it and there wee three real ales on the bar,we had a drink of Taylor Landlord and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Marstons bitter and Whitbread Chesters bitter.
