We called into this 2017 Good Beer Guide pub while on a coach tour of pubs in the Greater Manchester area, and it is a very old pub in a rejuvinated area. The locals in the pub seemed amazed to have a coach party turn up, and we were made very welcome and had a fun visit chatting while drinking our Holt Bitter. The horseshoe bar is magnificent and there are etched glass panels. It is multiroomed and also has an outside drinking area at the rear. When it came to leave some shook hands and came to wave us off. Very friendly.

The Duke Of York is a Joseph Holt's pub situated just inside Salford and is a fine red bricked building that is not unfamiliar of pubs in Manchester and surrounding areas.The pub is a traditional unchanged local with a large central horeshoe bar,multi rooms and high ceilings,with the stained glass billiard room door being a notable feature.The pub is a little tricky to find being tucked away amidst a mass of new houses,and after finding if you enter the side door, as i did be a little wary of receiving the evil eye from the older locals in the room to your right,who were either miffed off about strangers encroaching on there domain or they were still smarting after losing a winning lottery ticket.
