Used as a function room for City fans on the way to the Etihad.

Currently having the cellars dug up by the Police looking for the body of Martin Joyce who disappeared in 1999.

Alan Winfield left this review about Bank Of England

The Bank of England was a basic old corner pub that still had its Chesters signs outside.
Once inside i had a drink in the bar which was very basic, there may have been other rooms but i did'nt look, this pub used to be a Whitbread tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Chesters mild and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Whitbread Trophy bitter.
This pub is still standing and it may have recently reopened, which is good news for this area of ancoats.
