Although the original pub sign is still there, the outside carries a lot of branding for Matizz Lounge, and that is what this pub has become. The front drinking terrace now has a huge retractable awning, while the interior is club like, dark and moody. The walls are black,so is most of the furniture apart from two long benches covered in bright velour. The bar is immediately to the right and just has two keg taps, with only Carling available on my trip, fobbing and ludicrously priced at £2.50 a half, which is all I could manage.
Huge speakers hang off the walls, there is a small stage in one corner with a drum kit ,while on the corridor to the gents there is an unmarked door, propped open to reveal a garden. The pub seems to be the preserve of the local asian youth, and although there was activity in the beer garden I didn't investigate.
Food is served from an Asian fusion menu, and all the tables had salt and pepper but no one was eating.
From the outside it looks like a traditional pub,but that's all in the past now.

This is a nice out of the way pub where one can relax over a pint of standard draught or Staropramen. However, I thought that the Scottish guy behind the jump could brush up on his customer service skills as a hello and thank you goes a long way when a newcomer walks into a pub.

This is a good sized L- shaped pub that has been recently refurbished with a couple of plasma screens and a projector screen and Sky Sports along with a pool table. There is plenty of seating out the front in a decked area and there is also a beer garden out the back that I didn't get to see, but it looked nice enough in the photo advertisement at the front of the pub.

I don't think that this is a hidden backstreet gem, but I would make the three minute walk from the high street to drink here again.
