This pub is now closed down and empty. Its soon to become yet another restaurant just what Southgate needs I think not. I cant see that lasting long either there's just too many places around here for people to feed there guts cant see enough customers to support yet another one that's the reason this pub closed down even though it was mainly food lead. This pub will be no great loss as its never been that good in recent years since it went all foodie and ended up like a restaurant anyway as it had no Real Ales for at least the past year its been on a looser for ages. Plus being up the wrong end the high street past all the shops and facing Asda and a garage don't help passing trade its just in the wrong place.

I went in this Pub last night the first thing I noticed was Its Painted A Horrible Pink colour on the outside. I only had a Quick Pint as I found the place very lacking in any welcome Or atmosphere and there was no Ale on as all as the Ale pump clips were turned round. The Barman seemed more interested in watching the Football on the TV rather than serving any waiting customers not a good sign. I found the Place was not that busy even though there was football on.
After a quick Pint I left and went over the Spoons instead as the Ale Festival is on.
I Don't think I would go back in here next time I'm passing as theres much better Pubs in the area.

Upon entering the waggon I was greeted by a very friendly and enthusiastic barmaid who made me feel very welcome. Adnams was available alongside a varied mix of regular and premium lagers and my pint of lager was good. I think that it is aimed at a younger crowd as it has a modern feel and sofas everywhere as apparently young people can't sit on normal chairs. At one end of the pub there are stairs going up to a seated dining type area and down to a pool table. I think that it has been very well done as it is very light and fresh in the pub with a couple of well placed plasma screens with the ability to show sky sports. The music that was playing was good, but not too loud to be intrusive.

There is decking along the side of the pub that stretches to the rear where there is a beer garden with ample seating. One small problem is that it is a little close to a busy petrol garage.

I think that the food is done by the Black Orchid Thai team, which also operates in the John Baird in Muswell Hill if I'm not mistaken.

I liked it in here and would use it more often if I lived or worked locally.
