Good to see the Coronet receiving some high ratings. I was in here the day it opened as a Spoons, was quite a handy venue when getting off the tube. Still is impressive on this visit. Ten ales on handpump, l went for the Hepworth Sussex Ale.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Coronet (JD Wetherspoon)

Former cinema, with a very imposing Art Deco frontage. Equally impressive inside, with a good use of space avoiding the usual pitfall of placing the bar at the far (screen) end. The slightly raised circular area in the middle of the ex-stalls is probably the best place to admire the towering ceiling and many other historic features. Small patio area at the back. 12 handpumps offering the usual suspects plus a diverse range of guests such B&T Black Dragon Mild (fine value at £2.25). Overall, gives the impression of being well managed and worth seeking out.

A large former theatre with three banks of handpumps, and various wall displays of local/historic interest as well as related to the theme of film. Seems to be well-managed with friendly and effective staff, at least the 5-6 times I have visited. Quick to clear up tables which is often a complaint of other JDW pubs in north London.

Caters to a wide range of visitors including a relatively high proportion of students (depending on time of year). Its somewhat cavernous dimensions can make it feel a bit cold.

This place is the usual Spoons affair with standard draught and a good selection of ales. Surprisingly the staff seem to know what they are doing, although the bar area wasn't very busy.

Unsurprisingly the building is so big that there is no atmosphere, but it is worth walking up to the back of the pub, where the rear exit is opened up for the smokers, to get the full scale of this old cinema.

Vast Wetherspoon's converted from a cinema.Good range of guest ales and every now and again they have a beer festival featuring Oakham ales which we went to last week and had some great beers, full marks to the manager which makes a change from the usual run of the mill Wetherspoon pub.5 mins from Holloway Road Station.
