This pub dates from 1802 but was rebuilt around 50 years later.
As mentioned, it’s a funny little place; easy to miss. What wasn’t easy to miss, is the sea of fag ends – or more appropriately ‘tabs’ – around the entrance; are they ever cleared?
Inside, it’s a reasonable size, very cosy and ‘L’-shaped. It’s clearly had a makeover, as it’s recently been taken over by the questionably named ‘Craft Union’ chain. The floor is carpeted and paintwork is a palette of contemporary grey/blue shades, with some wood panelling left bare and looking like it was installed in the ‘30s. Furniture is best described as ‘comfy’ and lighting was contemporary. Décor comprises a huge tableau of the area to a wall, then lots of framed flyers advertising sport or meal deals. There was sport with the sound off and an ugly games machine or two. Customers were mixed in age but, as mentioned, all seemed to be Geordies, along with a solitary elderly Irish gent, perhaps lost on his way to the Coningham.
There were two pumps, both unused, so it was a half of Strongbow for an extraordinary £1.50, served by a chatty barmaid: why aye, pet!
This isn’t a bad place for what it is. Lose the games machines and get some real ale in and the score goes up accordingly.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The White Horse
Looks absolutely nothing from the front; in fact, I walked past it many times without really realising that it was a pub. Inside, it is rather larger than one would expect, with a curiously-shaped bar as the room extends behind the adjacent building. Rough and ready in terms of decor (and some of the customers), and it retains an old-fashioned 'working mans' feel with a mixture of Irish and North East influences and racing on the television screens. One handpump, serving a decent-enough pint of Greene King IPA (very well priced at £2.50). Pool table and reasonable beer garden. Overall, quite a refreshing change from the pubs around Shepherds Bush Green, and handy for a pint if visiting the Empire or Bush Hall.

The quaint arched frontage (complete with built in Mile Stone) somewhat disguises the Tardis like but rather oddly laid out interior. Essentially an Irish pub with flags proudly displayed and snippets of the Emerald Isle's finer assets but not as intimidating, unwelcoming or cliquey as some Irish pubs that I have ncountered. Unusually they serve a Real Ale albeit Green King IPA of varying quality across my occasional visits but cheap at £2.20 a pint. The carpeted main area at the front has paneled walls, pew seats and a rather tatty and worn in feel. 2 plasma screens generally show sport. The rear bar, almost hidden by large supporting columns, is lined with more pew seating but is dominated by the pool table which makes the seating rather impractical. The bar itself is rather awkwardly placed and not very user friendly, especially when people are sitting up against it. There always seems to be a game of dominoes going on and from the photos of the locals on the wall, everything seems to be geared towards a harmonius customer base albeit some clients can often be found in various stages of alcoholic decline even though from my experiences they cause lttle in the way of nuisance value. Whilst I woudn't go too far out of my way for a visit, the pub is handy for QPR, Bush Hall & Shepherd Bush Empire and if you fancy cheap pubs with no airs or graces that are a bit frayed around the edges and you're not too fussy with the beer selection, you could find worse places to kill an hour.
