On one corner of Shepherd’s Bush Green, this is a compact little street corner pub that rather surprisingly used to be a branch of JD Wetherspoon. The pub has a single room, fairly open-plan layout with just one large pillar in the centre of the room breaking things up a bit. Large windows down two sides of the room allow plenty of light in, so it’s all nice and bright but doesn’t have a particularly cost spot that felt worth settling down in. The servery is on the rear wall, over to the left and is also broken part-way along by another pillar. The bar counter has an unusual wood, tile and corrugated iron front which catches the eye on approach, as well as a more familiar metal frame gantry and glazed tile bar back. There’s a mix of old wood panels and grey painted sections of wall around the room, all decorated with black and white photos, gig posters from the nearby Shepherd’s Bush Empire, plenty of corporate posters and blackboards and a few decorative ornaments dotted here and there. Lots of TV screens were on, showing live cricket to the sound of a ‘90’s indie soundtrack which chugged away in the background. There’s a snug in the rear right corner with some additional padded bench seating under bare brick walls, but the compact nature of the space means that there is only enough space for a single table. Stairs lead down to something called the Green Room, which I didn’t manage to explore on this occasion.
There were three handpulls in operation when I arrived, dispensing St Austell Tribute, Sharps Doom Bar and Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted. The Tribute was £4.10 for a pint and served up by an efficient, if not exactly very friendly, barmaid. Unfortunately, the beer was in pretty bad condition, so despite planning to stop for a couple of pints, I instead went off to the nearby Brewdog bar instead.
This is a fairly uninteresting pub that let itself down even further by keeping some pretty bad beer. It lacks the character of the neighbouring Defector’s Weld, the beer range of the Brewdog or the cheap prices of the Spoons, making it pretty low on the Shepherd’s Bush Green pub hit list.

Oct 2019 update
The ground floor bar is now in typical Stonegate decor, with a mix of odd bits of building site and tiling, while the downstairs room is in more traditional style but has no bar (and still not often open). Three handpumps promised Sharp's Atlantic, Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted and Doom Bar, but sadly only the latter was on in a less-than-fair condition. Drops a mark until they sort the beer out.

Oct 2017
Once one of the smaller Wetherspoon's shop conversions but now a reasonable Stonegate pub. Usual sort of draught ales on handpump: the Ghost Ship went down fine. Not quite sure what goes on in the downstairs room as it was closed.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Green

Much more of a pub feel here than in the Defector's Weld across the road, although the previously much better choice of real ale has sadly disappeared. The cramped layout makes life awkward even with the two former bars opened out into a 'L'-shaped room (but with more seating available downstairs). Just Pride, Doom Bar and Trooper (£4.45) available from the three handpumps on this visit.

Not a bad pub at the cheaper end of the market but gets busy when QPR are at home, even so the staff were on the ball (sorry for the pun) even if they were trying to serve while watching the game. Beers are well kept - my last visit saw London Pride, Bass, GK IPA and Bombardier. The food is OK and possibly a tad cheaper than the 'spoons it used to be. Average.

This place has a Wetherspoons feel to it from the cheap drinks and food to the curry nights, and whilst I was there, the stretched staff. Why on earth the management would expect one person to be barman, potman and waiter is beyond me.

Pride, Bombadier, Adnams and some nice Brains SA were available along with standard lagers during my visit.

I've been in far worse pubs than this one.

Corner pub, bit dark inside but has large windows, so probably be better in the summer. 5 real ale taps, Deuchars, Brains, Bass, Adnams and I think Bombadier. Serves food all day. Has wheelchair access. There is also a downstairs bar.

Roger Button left this review about The Green

Originally the Moon on the Green, this former Wetherspoons is now part of the Barricuda chain. On my recent visits there have always been a good number of Ales available (most recently Brains SA, London Pride, Bass, Bombardier, Adnams and Old Rosie Cider) at very reasonable prices albeit not quite in Wetherspoons territory. Quality can vary but they are always drinkable if a bit on the cold side. The interior has a basic and functional approach with solid furninshings and bare floors. 3 plasma screens dish out Music TV which can be good or bad depending on your tastes. Reasonably priced meals but never actually eaten here. There is a downstairs bar which used to be used regularly in the Wetherspoons days but now appears to be more of a private function room available for hire. It naturally gets packed when QPR are at home but it is generally fairly comfortable in the early evenings. It is also convenient for Bush Hall, the Shepherds Bush Empire and the new Westfield Shopping Centre. Not a place to go out of the way for but certainly not the worst pub around and it has a bit more life than the sterile Wetherspoons down the road with a similar budget approach.
