Dating back to the early 19th century, this was originally the Anchor, an anchor motif to the central gable now obscured when this pub had a change of name following a savage refurbishment in 2020, into what is now in effect a cocktail bar with one of the most naff, gaudy interiors I've ever seen. And it was completely empty midweek when all other pubs visited were doing a decent trade; I didn't stay.

Quite an acceptable pub in what looks like an Edwardian building but for some reason painted dark blue. Inside however is smartly modernised, retaining a proper bar and with some refreshingly white ceilings and walls, and only a modicum of dark turquoise woodwork. The room extends off round to the side of the bar, with plenty of tables and comfortable seating. There is a small garden at the rear Draught ales were Doom Bar and Proper Job, the latter in good form. There is also a large selection of craft beers in tin and bottle.

An oasis on a roughly half-mile strip of Irish-flavoured shop-converted bars, with an actual pub look and feel. Likely a former two-roomed affair, this is now opens up with an entrance-facing bar and plenty of seating available either side of the central front entrance, with those to the left partially occupied by people eating on my visit and those enjoying a drink to the right where the bottom right-hand corner was a little 'front room' with a large, beige-coloured studded leather bench seat, modern stone fireplace and antler decor(!) Two ales - St Austell Proper Job and Robinson's Trooper, with loads of options in the fridge, bottle and can-wise (there was also a glass cabinet to the right proffering many more of their cousins). Dimmish lighting and muted muzak made for a relaxed atmosphere, and although no world-beater, this is the pick of the establishments on Ealing's Broadway / Uxbridge Road.

What a lovely surprise of a pub.Very comfortable, nicely furnished interior.Nice beer garden to the rear.Couple of hand pumps with Youngs Dna and Wychwood - Piledriver which was good.Large bottled beer selection but a tad expensive.Actually more than a tad.West end prices rather than West Ealing prices.Still I liked it a lot.
