I won't repeat Mr Fastard's accurate description below.
On our visit the 3 screens were showing the Hammers being hammered 6-0 by Man City to the chagrin of the landlord. There were a few locals and regulars in, mainly seated around the bar, but they tended to drift off after the footy. The landlord closed at 10, whether this is a regular thing when things are slow or he was in a strop I'm not sure but worth noting if you're looking for a later pint.
Beers all from Charles Wells: Courage Best, Directors and Santas Little Belter. Deeply uninspiring but, surprisingly, the Directors was in top condition and went down as well as I can remember anything from Charlie Wells going down.
Stop in for a Directors if you're deeply thirsty.

A Charles Wells tied house which has had a recent, and decent, refurb. The interior is an open plan L shape with a small carpeted dining area to one side. The main body of the pub has a high ceiling and extends to the rear where there is a pool table, juke box and gaming machines.Around the bar there is a raised bench seat, some high stools and a small raised banquette while the rest of the furniture is square wooden tables and chairs. The flooring is solid wood.
There were four handpumps but only two clipped with CW Courage Directors and Courage Best reversed. So Hobson's choice but the cask marque was deserved and my Directors was as good as I have had in many a long year.
There are occasional disco and karaoke but on my trip the atmosphere was of a good town centre boozer. There are three Sky flat screen but only one was showing Fulham v The Toon, and the friendly barmaid was joshing with the regulars gathered around the bar. There is a smoking shack in the car park and some picnic tables there if you want a tab.
The refurb did not extend as far as the gents, which was pungent but that was the only issue.
A solid pub for a beer, just a shame that the CW insignia means there will never be an outstanding ale on offer in here.
