This is a 19th century pub, one of the most famous gay venues in the country.
I tried to get in here last Thursday (3rd) to find it closed. The following Monday and Tuesday it was likewise closed, at variance with the stated opening times and almost exclusively ticketed events on these days as advertised. A visit on 9th found it open with a large crowd congregating on the pavement, the door open with a bouncer checking ink stamps to customers’ hands, so I can only assume that you have to pay to get in.
Does this place really deserve to be on a pubs’ website, when it gives every indication of being a pay-to-visit venue with very limited and/or erratic opening hours?

Not as big as it looks from the outside. Bar to right, no hand pumps, just keg. Definitely a gay bar but I picked the one day when you didn't have to pay to get in.

A very well known gay pub/club. Has bouncers on the door. Gets very popular when they have live acts.
