The Galleon has had a major refit since my last visit some 20 years ago and is now unrecognisable from it's previous incarnation.
Mr. Blackthorn has described it well below. It retains the feel of a gastropub but the menu appears to offer fairly basic pub grub. Tables are crammed in such that it's quite difficult to actually sit down if anyone is at the adjoining tables.
The barmaid who greeted us was friendly and chatty but the positive mood didn't extend to the beer selection sadly and we were faced with the choice of GK IPA, Hobgoblin or London Pride. We went for the Pride which wasn't so bad that it had to be returned but wasn't in great shape and none of us finished the pint.
Handy for the canal but, for me, not a destination pub.

A good sized, canal side pub with quite a contemporary feel, presumably due to a fairly recent makeover. Bar staff all seemed friendly and the garden is a very pleasant spot in the warmer weather.
The main bar is a single L-shape room, although divided in to a few different sections. This is mostly laid with laminate wood flooring and there is a cream and maroon colour scheme. Off to the right is a carpeted area perhaps more geared up for dining and this had a modern chimney breast made from slate. The wall on the left hand end is all old brickwork which contrasts with the modern decor elsewhere and this also includes an old stone fire-place. Further on in the leg of the "L" is another carpeted area with windows giving views over the canal and a large black and white photo of a narrow boat covering the whole end wall.
For many people the main draw will be the canal side garden, this is a good size with plenty of picnic tables and a children's play area. Unfortunately it's somewhat shaded from the evening sun, but there's not much that can be done about that. For the busier months there is also a downstairs bar and a brick built outside barbeque.
From the look of the pub I was expecting a gastro-pub type menu, but in fact it was very much more basic "pub grub" with a selection of dishes such as Bangers & Mash, Scampi & Chips, Ham, Egg & Chips, etc., mostly priced at around the £8 mark, although several of them were available as part of a "2 for £10" deal. There were also a number of burgers available.
Unfortunately the only beer on tap was Old Speckled Hen, despite three hand pumps on the bar. The solitary cider was Stowford Press. Be aware of irregular opening hours - I popped in for a pint at about 9:50pm a few months ago only to be told that they had stopped serving.

I have just come back from a trip to the Galleon Inn and found it a truly welcoming pub. We were on our way back from visiting family and stopped at this pub for something to eat and a place to let the children let off steam. The children where welcomed which isn't something we experience very often. I had Chargrilled chicken Breast with lentils bacon and peas which tasted sublime. The children had a pizza each which were freshly cooked and according to the children yummy. My husband had the Rib eye steak which normally is served with buttered new potatoes but he wanted chips which was not a problem at all. The children enjoyed the play area and had lots of fun watching the canal. The drinks were served quickly and tasted perfect. We found the prices to be really good at about £9.00 for a main meal. We are even thinking of going back to sample the Christmas menu.

I am very excited that a pub has so much knowledge of coeliac peoples needs! I was really surprised that they had a specific gluten free menu because normally eating out can be a real hassle to the point where I tend to cheat and just guess what I can eat and invariably make myself ill! I have two young boys so the Galleon is a perfect place for my family to go especially with the canal-side garden and children’s play area.

I recently visited the galleon, mainly because my other half was frozen due to the weather & too much xmas shopping! Soon warmed up when we got inside, the pub is lovely, no loud music so I can only assume that the landlord took note of the review below. Theres a warm welcoming atmosphere & friendly staff. The food was great too with very reasonable prices. There were advertisements for various offers & upcoming events so if you have a free afternoon or evening over the Christmas period then pop in, you wont be disappointed!

There has been a major refurb after this pub was closed for a while.Set above the Grand Union Canal,the canalside garden has a childrens play area with a wooden "fort" and there is a garden bar open in the good weather to save parents scaling the steep steps to the main bar .The entrance from the main road has a carpeted dining area to the right,a small bar with seating booths opposite and a L shaped area,again set up for dining.The windows have views over the canal.There are three handpumps serving Courage Directors,Old Speckled Hen and Black Sheep,a little below par and £2.85.The food however is well cooked and this is the high point,you pay a slight premium which makes it seem pricey for the area but I thought it good value.However getting reliable staff is tricky and service was a little chaotic but with suitable apologies.However what got my goat was the over loud ,seemingly endless R&B musak blaring throughout the interior.This may have been appropriate in South London but not in the outskirts of MK and was a rather poor attempt to create a cool atmosphere in a pub orientated to families,businees folk and boaters.A local artist was exhibiting modern art at outrageous prices in part of the pub,a hip thing to do or just plain silly ?I feel sorry for the chef,his efforts have been undermined.
