Situated in lovely Canonbury, overlooking the remainder of the New River and completed in 1613 by Sir Hugh Myddleton after whom this pub is named. This Grade II-listed ex-Courage pub was given a sympathetic makeover a couple of years ago. It's bare boarded with mixed furniture and muted music. One TV was spotted but was off. The colour scheme is contemporary and a model aircraft hangs from the ceiling. There's an upright piano and a small room to the rear with a working fireplace making a welcome addition on a chilly evening. There's a decent beer garden to the rear too with a little snug area, resembling a sauna.
Friendly staff, serving Mighty Oak Brewing's Kings at £2.10 a half. Also on offer were Adnams Ghost Ship (£4.00 a pint) and two other pumps, not recorded.
Definitely worth a visit if in N1 and is one of the borough's best pubs, especially when combined with the pleasant walk taking in the Island Queen en route to the Charles Lamb. Normal opening times now employed, the *at least* 11.00 pm licence on Sunday extending to midnight or beyond are a bonus.

Rooms to front and rear and a beer garden. Four hand pumps but nothing above 4.5% ABV. Nothing special.

According to the pub's own website, they open from 12 Weds to Sunday, 5pm on Monday and Tuesday. Closed at 4pm today although the lights were on. No signs of life. A bit disappointed as it looks like a nice pub, pumps were clipped viewed through the window.

We visited here in the aid of research for decent boozers close to stations on the Moorgate to Hertford North train line and actually quite liked the place for somewhere to catch a beer before taking the three minute walk back to Essex road station.
A small two roomed corner pub with a couple of tables out front and a decent enclosed courtyard garden out the back, it does have the traits of recent gentrification as mentioned below. But this has not been overdone in my opinion and still has a decent enough pub feel for wet sales only. On that front three of the four ale pumps were in operation with Adnams Ghost Ship, Bath Ales Gem and Mighty Oak Captain Bob and we tried the latter two and they were in good nick. These were then supported by a chrome tap font dispensing some of the modern craft beers.
Friendly service levels from a young bar team and it now attracts the younger members of the local community. But I will not hesitate to visit again to raise the average age a bit when travelling to and from the local station.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Myddleton Arms

Semi-modernised corner pub operating under the sign of the hand but keeping its name. Retains two separate bars, the larger of which is at the front, and a noticeably awkwardly placed till between the two. Busy on a Thursday evening, with a generally young crowd in. Two of four handpumps in use, dispensing Mighty Oak Captain Bob (£3.80) and Bath Ales Gem.

This is a local's boozer with a plasma screen in the front bar and a dartboard in the back. I found the barmaid to be nice enough and there is a standard draught selection alongside Greene King IPA.

It is not the biggest pub and the décor is very outdated and my Guinness wasn't the best so I doubt that I would return.
