This is not a bad pub in theory but I was put off by the DJ sound system and the sports' TV projector. Ambient music was a bit too loud, but the crowd in seemed to be having a good time. Friendly enough, with an old-school landlord. GK IPA or Well's Bombardier at £1.90 a half which is good value for the area. It is though a pity that the awful fascia is in place - it looks like something off a 1980s' discount furniture warehouse. What's wrong with the original name?

Worth popping in out of interest but I wouldn't make any effort to go here again, not least because I don't like loud music, sports' TV or ugly fascias.

Closed Sundays.

There were two ales on in here - GK IPA and Bombardier (£3.80 for two halves). I didn't see any sign of food on Thursday afternoon. Apparently this is the oldest building along this stretch of York Way, and I can believe that as this looks like a backstreet (i.e. cheaper to build) Victorian pub. The ironwork at the front still bears the pub's original name of the Lincoln Arms. It's a shame they haven't gone the whole hog and restored its name to the original, as it's not really a lounge any more - at least any more than any pub is just a lounge.

The DJ music system is still there, and the ukulele cabaret is still advertised, which is unusual as far as pub live music is concerned to say the least. The mural and old map of the world are still there. Being a quiet afternoon we were able to chat to the guv'nor about how the pub has changed over the years (bringing the area at the back where the mural's sited into the pub; changing an area including the inside stairs into inside toilets) which usually adds value to a visit. To be honest you wouldn't visit this pub just for the ale choice, but it's just about different enough to warrant a quick visit.

The Lincoln Lounge is a thin bar with a bar counter along the right hand wall that faces some sofa seating that sits under a huge world map that has been on the left wall for a number of years. At the rear is a graffiti art decorated seating area that houses low tables and stools. During my visit on a recent Monday afternoon there was some background music playing. I didn’t spot a television, but World Cup Rugby deals were advertised so there must be a screen somewhere. I noted a couple of hosted events which were a DJ every Friday and ukulele cabaret every second Tuesday of the month. Free wifi is available through the Lincoln’s own account.

The bar is stocked with premium keg products and the two hand pumps were drawing Bombardier, and Greene King IPA. Bar snacks such as sausage rolls, scotch eggs and pies were available for £4 or £6 with an accompanying Ploughman’s.

I found the service here to be friendly enough, but this lived in bar isn’t a place that I will be actively searching out in the future.

Like many of the pubs that I used to frequent when I worked in the area, the Lincoln barely resembles any of my old memories of the place. The old Lincoln Arms name may still be depicted in the ironwork over the old entrance but the Lounge for Arms replacement in the name pretty much sums up what has happened to this and a large percentage of the traditional pubs in Kings Cross. The old basic boozer that I remember now has the oh so familiar sofa and coffee table wine bar type setting that is beginning to overtake the pub world. That said, this is one of the more endearing efforts and whilst I wouldn't come here by choice, I wouldn't necessarily steer away from it either. The interior is fairly small and has a certain quirky randomness about it. The rear courtyard with its large pub mural has been integrated into the pub so it is a bit larger than it once was and there are still remnants of the original features although for the most part they appear to be obscured by tables and bookcases. Candles are a big thing; big ones, small ones, long ones, wax encrusted bottled ones, enough to keep Swan Vesta in business for years. Not really much on the beer front. Upmarket lagers and just 1 ale - Bombardier on both hand pumps although more reasonably priced than some of its more upmarket neigbours. Most of the Kings Cross pubs that I knew has now disappeared beyond recognition but, despite the changes, this is one that I would revisit, albeit at a push.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Lincoln Lounge

Never noticed this place before, although I must have walked past it a few times... However, once inside, I found an interesting bar with attentive service (and how rare is that in this part of London?). I guess that most customers are regulars, but the room had a friendly atmosphere for the casual visitor. Decent pint of Bombardier too.

Not a bad little pub, doesn't sell Guinness but does do Murpheys. Worth a visit, but better check the opening times.
