This is a Greene King pub right at the entrance to Leadenhall Market, with an entrance just inside the market, as well as one in Gracechurch Street that leads down to the cellar. The market building was eerily quiet, mirrored by the upstairs (i.e. ground level) bar of the pub where I was the only customer for some while until another four or five other customers arrived. Obviously I had to do the pub's track and trace before I was allowed in and being a GK pub this didn't have to be via their "app", but a text to some GK address was enough. But it's card only here; no cash.

There were several beers on though - GKIPA of course, some other GK beer called Man on the Moon, Yardbird, plus guests in St Austell Tribute and Five Points XPA (£4.95 a pint). A Southwark Brewery porter was "coming soon". There were a number of keg beers available, but I didn't feel like donning my mask to go to the bar counter to read the small clips. A fairly limited menu had main courses at upwards of £13, and chicken club and fish finger sandwiches were £10. The City of London isn't known for its cheap prices so I wasn't surprised by being asked to pay a tenner for a sandwich, but although it wasn't mentioned on the menu, a blackboard behind the counter said that food and soft drinks at lunchtime Mon to Wed were half price. Unfortunately the beer was full price.

The pub itself is a wide-fronted sliver of a place, but being in the ornate Victorian splendour of the tourist attraction of the market itself does make the place look good from the outside. Unfortunately the interior doesn't live up to the exterior, with just a few tall tables and chairs for furnishings, although the wood-framed panelled ceiling with copper coloured relief design is an interesting feature. In normal times this place would be very busy at lunchtimes being in the heart of the financial district. I'm sure those days will return.

Greene King cellar bar down a few flights decorated with plenty of art deco era posters and hacked out of an old basement (I had no idea there was also an entrance in Leadenhall Market!). A pleasingly curved ceiling area at the bar on entering, with a further area beyond. Populated by powdered suits, as to be expected. The decor was nicely inoffensive with subtle lighting, bottle green, cream and wood. Four pumps at the bar with 3x GK and a guest in Truman's Swift which was a bit sweetcorn tasting and fusty (NBSS 2). Despite the downsides I kind of liked it here, a bit like an 80s wine bar reimagined. It could feature in a City Boys sitcom, should anybody feel the need to write one. 5.5

The other pub situated in Leadenhall Market, although there is an entrance in Gracechurch Street to a basement restaurant.Owned by Greene King,it lacks charm but has some interesting features,a decent bar back and fine moulded ceiling. The tap room off the Market is open plan with small tables running down the centre of the room and drinking shelves elsewhere.Expect to drink vertically. The muzak was noisy punk, and there was an earthy atmosphere with less suits that in any other pub around this way.Lots of handpumps but a limited choice of GK IPA,Abbott and guest St Austell Tribute (drinkable).Food is from a corporate GK menu,I didn't visit the restaurant but if you can find space you can eat in the tap room.Nothing in here demands a revisit and you are better advised to take your life in your hands and attempt to cross Gracechurch Street to the 'spoons Cross Keys opposite.

Located in beautiful Leadenhall Market, I have to agree with the other reviews: this is a very sub-standard pub. There's quite an ornate (Lincrusta?) ceiling but thereafter there's literally not much. Hardly any furniture, just three modest high tables with high stools, thereafter just a few stools to a narrow ledge beneath the windows. The net result is a vertical drinking establishment which resembles a live music venue with muted music, games machines and two TVs showing sport with the sound off.
Several GK-associated ales such as IPA and London Glory, my half of Navigation's Back of the Net was fine and cost only £2.15 which is very cheap for the area.
This is a dreary pub for City types with gelled hair; The far superior Swan or Grapes are just around the corner.

Nothing really to write home about this one. This GK pub is on two levels, a basement bar and a ground floor bar with Oakham Citra on as a guest. Prepare to pay through the nose here. My advice is to run across the road to Spoons.

A Greene King pub that is in Leadenhall market. The usual Greene King excuse for beer on with one guest ale on which was Hydes Finest and if this is their finest then I would hate to think what their worst is. Total crap beer at an eyewatering £4.40 a pint. I give a score of 1 for the fact that it sells alcohol. Avoid.

Very busy pub serving Greene King beers and a guest.Fairly basic pub but nice contrast to some of the fancier pubs around this area.Very warm night so the draught Blue Moon was refreshing.

Although the address of The New Moon is Gracechurch Street, the pub itself manages to just be inside Leadenhall Market and benefits from having a large outside drinking area under the cover of the market. Therefore it is a decent place for a pint in the summer months when the inside area can become extreemly busy with the City Crowd
It’s a standard Greene King pub with IPA, Abbot, Old Speckled Hen and Moorland Original. The beer has been OK , but never spectacular on the couple of times I have visited and there are much better pubs (IMHO) a short distance away, including the other pub inside the market, The Lamb...

This pub is great if you like drinking your beer standing in a busy corridor whilst all around you jostle for extra space. I was lucky as it just so happened that my round never fell in this pub, but my friends had to wait some time at the bar and then it was a nightmare trying get the beers back past the self absorbed clientele. Being a Greene King pub it wasn't surprising to see IPA, Abbot, Old Speckled Hen and Moorland Original on offer alongside some standard lagers.

There is a small plasma screen on each of the side walls and the Darts Premier League was being shown on Sky Sports whilst I was there. There is no smoking outside as it is in Leadenhall Market, not that anyone paid any attention to the ban.

I wasn't very impressed with this pub, but maybe i'd have enjoyed it more at a quieter time.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The New Moon

Not too bad, but very little in the way of seating and it's a Greene King house (enough said for some).
