A large open plan pub next to the Tower Gateway DLR station. Theres a rather attractive flagstone floor running along the bar area, plenty of seating and plenty of TVs showing the early kickoff Arsenal/Brighton game Saturday lunchtime, the place was well attended with plenty of gunners shirts.Six handpumps with just London Pride and Ghost Ship available, the latter was average at best. Functional and handily placed , but not somewhere I'd make a beeline for.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Minories

Large Stonegate pub located under the railway arches east of Fenchurch Street station. Provides a decent range of seating areas, not all immediately obvious from the main bar space, with semi-modern furniture and exposed brick decor. Also has a few pavement tables on one side but a much larger patio area on the other. Six handpumps on the counter, offering the regular Doom Bar, Pride and Bombardier plus Old Speckled Hen, Hobgoblin and Pedigree New World (£3.90) as guests when I visited. NB - Has a Monday Ales Club with all real beers at £2.45 all day.

Pretty much as Roger describes below, but it has cleaned up its act a fair bit. Comfortable seating in both halves, pleasant professional bar staff, sober background music and a few antiques dotted around made it feel pleasant to be in here. Of the six advertised ales only 2 were on which was due to a pipe cleaning programme, a pity as that left GK IPA as the best choice, but it was well kept and rather enjoyable. Free wifi is available. Food was very good, cooked from basics and used good quality ingredients. My only complain twas the portion size - too big, and I hate to leave food to waste. Well worth a visit.

Situated below the main railway line into Fenchurch Street by the entrance to Tower Gateway DLR station, the crumbling Victorian brickwork overhead appears ready to fragment and drop into your pint every time a train rumbles overhead. The thick brick walls are complimented by a heavy flagstoned floor and they have at least made an effort to retain the "under the arches" feel but without the pigeon shit. Plenty of cubby holes tucked away and usually several seats available even at busy periods. Service was fine although 2 of the 3 (rather mainstream) beers were unavailable. Fairly cheap (Courage Best £2.30 is at least 50p less than avarage for the area). Given the tills by each entrance, I get the impression that it turns into a more clubby establishment later in the evenings when the volume probably gets turned up loud. Plenty of screens for sport. It does get a bit smoky and it attracts its fair share of loud and lairy city office workers who are usually worse for wear after4 pints. There is a sizeable seated area outside when the weather permits. Overall, certainly not brilliant but it has its merits and makes a change from the usual standard pub.
