Blackthorn _ left this review about Barley Mow

A traditional tiled façade on the front of this street corner pub hints perhaps, at something of a Victorian gem, but this has long had a reputation as something of a rough and ready local’s boozer and it certainly doesn’t disappoint in that regard.

Internally it has a very basic appearance with some sort of black lino on the floor, wood panelling on the lower part of the walls and painted wallpaper up above along with a maroon coloured ceiling. There is some further tiling behind the bar counter which is an attractive feature, but other than that there was nothing of any note. A few pictures of dogs were up on the wall, two of which were apparently called Barley and Mow. A plasma screen was up in the corner, and the juke box was playing “Gordon is a moron” to which a group of punters on the next table were enthusiastically signing along, although with several extra swear words added for good measure.

Unfortunately there were no real ales on tap, just keg Courage Best. Ciders were well represented though with Blackthorn, Thatcher’s Gold, Thatcher’s Traditional, Taunton Traditional, Thatcher’s Dry and Cheddar Valley.

The barley mow is a small corner pub that has a nice green and brown tiled lower front.
Once inside this is a very small single roomed pub with the bar facing, the seating is basic bench type and chairs, there is a TV to the left which was showing old music videos.
There are no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Courage Best which was drinkable.
The pub was very busy with older locals on my Saturday dinner visit.
This is a very basic locals not the sort of pub to take your Mam to.
