You have to take the rough with the smooth at this pub. I visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon which was probably not the best time. The place was packed and if you weren’t sporting a pair of designer sunglasses on your head or have friends called Julian and Jocaster you’d feel a bit out of place. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many jugs of Pimms, resplendent with enough fruit and foliage to provide all of your 5-a-day, and I seemed to be the only one paying with cash. The upside is the fantastic range of beers, 6 real ales with some interesting choices, I went for the Ossett Excelsior then the Altons Pride. A little foray into the fridges brought forth a Rochefort 6 in a branded glass. Many many other bers, far too many to mention, it was also interesting that although beers like Carling and Guinness were available they seemed to be poured from taps under the counter without any signage. Another big plus with this place is that they understand that you can’t take money if you don’t have the staff, consequently they always seem to have loads of experienced and enthusiastic staff on. Well worth a visit, but better during a quieter time.

Fabulous modernised pub, a very upmarket feel to it and you prepare yourself to get well and truly stung as you peruse the ales......and then you're charged £2.60. In Fulham. For a very nice pint of Dark Star 'Over the Moon'. Then you recline in one of those handsome green armchairs and observe the food menu, which lists the beers that would go best with it. A very nice touch. Put simply, this place has lager and ale of the highest quality. Yes, its in a posh area - get over it! It left a great impression on me and I'll definitely re-visit, hopefully many times.

Yes it is a little upmarket and Sloaney but at the same time it really is very good. A large imposing pub, a central horseshoe bar in gleaming polished condition, wooden floors, and possibly the most extensive range of seating possible from benches to traditional chair and table through to formal dining and then armchairs and sofas. Decor includes old brewery photos and beer adverts from the UK and overseas. The Dolls and Pistols signs for the F/M toilets are a little odd/naff though. Although ostensibly one main space, the feel and decor changes as you move around giving the impression of seperate rooms.
As for the beer, well on handpump there was Pride, Harveys Sussex, Black Sheep Bitter, Cottage Golden Arrow, Adnams Broadside,Abbeydale Last Rites...11%...I didn't chance this one, and from the USA, Sierra Nevada Brown Ale. The couple I had were in very good nick and full pints too. There are other speciality beers including Anchor Steam Beer and Merry Christmas, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale from the USA and Duvel Green, Winter de Koninck and Greenwich Meantime Chocolate also on draught. The fridges contain a good range of Belgian bottles with the appropriate glasses available to serve them in.

The bar was very busy and most tables taken but refreshingly the place was very well and efficientely staffed so no waiting.

The food looked very good also. Highly recommended, but I'd avoid Chelsea home games, as the place will be packed.
