Once the Weavers Arms, this dates from the mid-19th century but has clearly been rebuilt as an interwar years pub.
Recently taken over, this is now part of a small chain of venues which offers ultraviolet cricket simulation – a bit like Laser Quest meets the Ashes – undertaken in cricket nets to the rear of the pub. The interior is modern, with a new floor and pale grey walls, with much shiny white tiling and a white ceiling; a coal effect gas fire was a bonus. The bar is modern, featuring brass tubing, corroded metal uprights and a green matchboard front. There are hanging spherical translucent lamps, to augment recessed ceiling downlighters, with cricket themed décor featuring a glass cabinet containing mementos, framed cricket shirts and framed items relating to the Ashes, with rugby playing on at least two TVs with the sound off, so as not to clash with the music, playing at a reasonable level. The venue was well attended by mainly youngish customers, at whom this place is obviously aimed; the place also caters for children’s parties.
Unsurprisingly, there’s no real ale, so it was a Neck Oil at £3.50 the half.
If you want to pretend you're Geoff Boycott, then this pub may be for you, but I’ll be boycotting it if in the area.

A very impressive modern interior to this bar rather than pub.Lots of screens for sport.About 10 beers on keg and 3 handpumps but with no cask beer on my visit Additional 8 keg beers from The Wall of Beers a self service thing where you leave your c/card behind the bar and you can help yourself.I opted to have my Summer Wine beer poured by the friendly barmaid.
