I was a little put off with the outside of this pub as I approached as it is built into a block of unattractive flats and there were a few people smoking in the doorway as to avoid the heavy rain giving this place a sinister feel. Thankfully the interior is clean and the clientele seemed nice enough, but there was a lack any kind of atmosphere and this was when all of the seating was taken up. Maybe the problem was that the pub was busy with couples and small groups that had been or were about to dine meaning that no one was standing at the bar.

This place excels in the beer front with five ales on hand pump and a host of bottled beers behind the bar. The staff were very friendly and I would suggest that anyone wanting to order the best beer for them talks to the governor as he is very knowledgeable and some of the bottles are hidden out of sight behind others on the shelf due to lack of space.

I wouldn’t purposely go out of my way to visit here again, but this is due to my own personal taste and I’m sure that CAMRA fans will love it in here.

I thought it was about time I paid a visit, and passing nearby while doing a walk from the Time Out Book of London Walks thankfully gave me the opportunity. It wasn't an auspicious start, as the Hophead came out cloudy, nevertheless, it was promptly changed with a smile and an apology, I went for the Twickenham Original, which was in very good nick.
At this point my pen stopped working, but from memory now there were Whitstable Oyster Stout, an 80/- Scottish beer and some kind of wheat beer from a Norfolk brewery.
The pub is smaller than I expected, as for the modern feel it works here, and the low key atmosphere is rather relaxing. Good to see the beer mat collection is growing, I didn't know the previous pub, but this rebirth seems to be working very well and good luck to all concerned.

Hophead, Olde Trip, Morland Original (greedyk now, as is Olde Trip), Tom Wood's Bomber County, Everards Tiger, all £3.20. Under pressure, Peroni (£4.20), Leffe, Budvar, Amstel, Aspall Suffolk Cyder, guinness cold. A board montage of Darkstar clips (x15) to left of bar suggests that fine brewery will be well represented. Décor feels quite spartan on entry, open access to bar which runs the length of far wall, tiles here, otherwise light wood floor throughout. Reasonably spaced seating in the form of 14 dark wood tables (2s,3s,4s) & chairs, and wooden banquette winding around walls & below windows, solid base tho, & scatter cushions may prove more decorative than functional? Central pillar in bar area has drinking shelf & a few barstools &, behind this, two chesterfields face each other across a low table. The wall here has a large plasma but this will be for only occasional use (ie no Sky), along a bit to a wooden sideboard and boxed mirror. A little extra light is provided by the vertical ‘skylight' panelling nr ceiling, easy listening soundtrack was unintrusive. Printed food menu looks good, & good value for the area, eg fish, chips & mushy peas (that's right folks!) £8.75; cottage pie £7.75; Cask steak & cheese burger wi fries £8.50; seabass, spinach, spuds dauphinoise £9.75. A large blackboard at rear carried no info, but one could imagine may advertise daily specials at some point? or maybe a wine list, which I failed to note despite all this talk of food, sorry.
Although the friendly guv, Martin, commendably aims to promote real ales (& there may be a ‘fest after a bedding-in period), I do think that the Cask is not very ‘pubby' and, as such, may need the food to be a significant contributor to retain a required customer base. No reason that shouldn't happen; it is served lunch & evening, opening includes weekends, the wet side has a good selection (& belgian styles in fridge), at least 3 good malts, it's clean and could appeal to female customers rather more than some scabby pubs around the station (despite its odd positioning under council flats). I wish them well.

Excellent city centre pub with 5 real ales on (usually at least 1 dark star) & a great selection of Belgian/German bottled beers make this well worth searching out if in the Victoria area.

I suppose any pub with Dark Star beers on the pumps and Belgian/German beers in the fridges will score highly in my book. I gave the Dark Star American Pale Ale a try and found it on top form, before getting stuck into a few of the weizenbiers as recommended by the landlord and expertly poured using a rolling technique to ensure the yeast in the bottom of the bottle made it into my glass.
We also gave the food a try. Meals are roughly a tenner per main meal. I had the chicken, which was very nice, although maybe a little overpriced. The only real grumble was the lack of vegetarian options on the menu (just one pasta dish).
The interior is of the gastro-pub variety, and being a new venture, the place doesn't seem to have found its feet in terms of generating the right kind of atmosphere, but that said it was very clean and pleasant; the sort of place I could get away with dragging my non ale-drinking friends to.
I look forward to a return visit - it's nice to finally have somewhere worthwhile to visit when in Victoria.

There's more than a change of name at the former Pimlico Tram. Until recently, even the locals were inclined to give the place a miss, but they and visitors are much happier to venture in now. The Cask has something of a "Lounge Bar" feel to it, with lots of wood (floor, bench seats etc.) about.

As the name suggests, the emphasis is on food as much as drink, but the menu is very reasonably priced for central London (there's a short £5 lunch menu, for example) and the quality is excellent.

Beer is something else they're good at here. Of the 5 hand pumps, one or two are for Dark Star: last night the Hophead was slipping down very nicely indeed and, not for the first time, impressing lager drinkers. If you do prefer a colder, fizzier pint, you can choose from Leffe Blonde, Budvar, Peroni & Amstel and there's a cider too (Aspall's). Not only that, but there's several fridges full of German & Belgian bottles, too.

Well worth the short stroll down from Victoria Station.

I have little to add to Roger’s comprehensive and objective review below. I got the distinct impression that the new guv’nor, Martin, was enthusiastic about the new venture, and was committed to making it work. Having tried all the ales, I can confirm that they were all in good nick, even the American Pale Ale, whose taste was unimpaired by Martin having mistreated (i.e. dropped!) the cask in which it was contained making it a little cloudy. My personal favourite was the Hophead Festival, but that’s just my subjective opinion.
Personally, I prefer the more basic, down-to-earth pub. But having said that, the Cask is clean, light and airy, is reasonably comfortable (no high stools and tables in evidence), has a welcoming and enthusiastic landlord and does decent ale. So, a fair few pluses then. Just don’t expect a traditional boozer when you visit this place.

Roger Button left this review about Cask Pub & Kitchen

It seems that the C&K is the pub of the moment so it was only a matter of time that I felt the urge to see if the hype was justified. The offputting name suggests that food plays a large part and whilst there were a few people eating, the food status was fairly underplayed to the extent that I didn't even notice any menus anywhere. As for the Cask angle of things, currently 5 pumps with yesterday's selection of Greene Kings Olde Trip & LBW, Everards Tiger, Batemans XXXB and Dark Star Festival which ran out and was promptly replaced by American Pale Ale (which seemed to be the favourite among our bunch of happy drinkers). Prices were a bit on the steep side at around £3.20/£3.30 a pint but quality was good (the Pale Ale was initially cloudy as the guvnor had accidently knocked the barrel but he did mention it at the time). It must be said he is certainly one of the more enthusiastic and knowledgeable managers / landlords that I have found and the staff in general were very attentive, something of a rarity in London pubs these days.

The pub itself is built into a modern block of flats but the reasonably sized single room interior is neat and tidy with a row of hefty pillars down the middle. The décor is fairly plain with modern loungey feel but fortunately they have steered clear of overloading the place with sofas and coffee tables although the built in surrounding seating may not be to every buttock's taste even with the cushions. A giant map of the world dominates one wall and and attractive sideboard in the corner gives it a homely touch. The ambience was very laid back and relaxed with with a good mix of civilised people. Unitrusive background difficult jazz seems to act like an insect repellant to ward off any culturally impaired oiks that may have lurked from the pub's previous guise as something of an estate hell-hole. The single flat screen TV remained switched off during our session despite there being an Ashes Test, European football and newsworthy events going on so it does make you wonder for what occasions the on button is used. It was not overly busy and there was plenty of free table space throughout the evening. The main problem with the place is that it isn't a very convenient location unless you live / work in the area. Whilst the place has many fine attributes and is a welcome addition to the area's generally weak pub circuit, it doesn't feel pubby enough for me to make it an essential outing although I certainly would recommend anyone to check the place out. Obviously it is still early days and will be interesting to see how things develop.

When i visited this pub it was called the Pimlico Tram.
The Pimlico Tram was a pretty dire looking pub that is one of two pubs set beneath a long block of flats.
Once inside the pub was a bit tatty but still comfortable enough to sit in for a drink, the pub used to be a Greene King tied house and there was one real ale on the bar this was GK IPA which was drinkable but nothing special.
There were quite a few other customers in and the pub had a bit of a rough edge to it.
This is the sort of pub i really like going in,it is nice to see it is still up and running but i am glad i went in it under its old guise.
