Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Rocket

One can see that this must once have been quite a grand place, but it has for a long time been a basic characterless pub with a very transient feel. Traditional interior which has been partially opened out to leave various seating areas around three sides of the bar. Sports / news TVs. All-day food offered from a standard unbranded M&B (Oaktree) menu. On the plus side, there are now five handpumps on the bar counter, with Doom Bar, Pride, Hogs Back TEA and No 18 Yard (Shepherd Neame) Rudolf's Reward (£3.55) available on this visit.

A big barn of a place that was once called The Rising Sun, but became The Friar & Firkin in 1992 and has been called The Rocket since around 1999. There's some evidence of its Victorian heyday (the pub was rebuilt in 1899), but not much.
This is essentially a banging sports bar with TVs all around, the size of king size mattresses and clients of the vocal lads in T-shirts school; multiple games machines dominate proceedings and pictorial menus display their bill of fare (basically burgers and the like).
On the plus side - and it's a very meagre plus side - ales comprise Greene King's IPA, Sharp's Doom Bar (clip reversed), Fuller's London Pride and Goddard's Ale of Wight at a very reasonable £1.85 a half, which is cheap for the area and was decent enough.

This place is everything I hate in a so-called pub and I will never return; the Somers Town Coffee House is just around the corner and is oh-so-much better.

Quite busy on our Tuesday eve visit. There were five handpumps, with four in use. The Moorhouses White Witch was our pick of the bunch. Other beers were Pride, GK IPA, and Harviestown Bitter and Twisted. The bar and the back of the bar were the only clues really that this was once a Victorian boozer, I suppose the original windows give another glimpse into the past. Still, at least the developers didn't knock it down.

As mentioned below nice building , but bland pub designed to attract the transient travelling population between the stations in this area who are not aware of the far superior establishments available a short walk away.
Poked my head in when in transit from the Euston Flyer to the Euston tap to see what I had been missing and the answer was nothing.

The Rocket is a vast pub on Euston Road that is designed to cater for the masses that pass between Kings Cross and Euston Railway Stations. The bar is stocked with a mix of standard and premium draught products and there is no real ale. The food is cheap for the area and there are various meal deals throughout the day. A plasma screen can be found either side of the bar and these were both showing muted rolling news. There is a jukebox which was playing some random background music and Sky Sports is advertised. England were playing cricket during my visit, but this wasn’t shown so maybe it’s only the football that gets an airing. There is a quiz advertised for every Monday night from 20:30, DJs are found here until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays and Sunday evening is open mic jam night. There are some awning covered picnic tables the length of the pub on the path outside.

This place is a bit big to generate any sort of atmosphere and the transient crowd adds little to the mix. There are better pubs in the area.

This pub is no doubt named after George Stephenson’s famous steam engine, and was originally called “The Rising Sun” as well as at one time being an Ind Coope house. The external architecture is very impressive and an excellent example of the late Victorian art of extravagant pub design. I’m not sure which pubco owns it now, but they’ve turned it into, or perhaps allowed it to remain, one of the grottiest station pub/bars that I’ve encountered. It’s a shame that such an impressive exterior should be coupled with such a characterless interior. There’s no real ale on offer, but they clearly do food as it smelled of fast food and there were ketchup bottles on all the tables. It’s not one that I’ll return to, but I accept that it serves a purpose in providing food for rail travellers.

Ok sort of place, has a video juke box. No real ale. Food served all day. Outside seating area, but is a little close to Euston road, so you may have to shout to your drinking partner.
