New owners have removed the hanging baskets and smartened up the interior. 5 real ales,"craft keg" and food served.

I'm not a fan of open kitchens in pubs and this one is more of an open chip van with at least three deep fat fryers fuming away. It's a shame as it is a decent pub serving up Spitfire, Adnams and Courage Best alongside plenty of standard lagers. My Spitfire was on good form and the barmaid was friendly enough.
There is a small TV that was showing Sky Sports News during my visit, but I don't think that they have the other sports channels. The pub is a good size and has an L-shaped bar. I suppose that you can escape from the smell if you sit on the other side of the pub and maybe that was why all of the regulars were plotted around there.
I'd probably pop in again if passing.

A very pleasent pub. On a summers day, make sure you sit outside, you can get a suntan whilst eating your lunch. The street is quiet, so you can talk without shouting, or you can enjoy the mass of flowers on the front of the building. They still sell ploughmans lunches, haven't seen that for a while, most pubs have Thai food. Pay a visit.
