I paid another brief visit to this pub today, following its re-opening last month. In my view it's not as good as it was. The dominant colour scheme is black and grey, with a some cream coloured walls. Seating is confined to a couple of black tall tables with tall stools, and a black sofa at the back. The tables had on them a small vase containing red roses. There is now longer a handpump on the bar, making the prospect of a real ale a distant hope. This is now more a bar than a pub, and is a bit too clinical for me.

Entering this pub is a bit like being in someone’s front room. Unlike a nice front room, I didn’t find the front bar to be very comfortable – no normal seating; only high stools and high tables. I didn’t bother with the back room. The only real ale on was Adnam’s Bitter, which was not particularly good. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I doubt whether I’ll be returning.

This is very much a local's pub and I felt a little unwelcome so ended up sitting in the back room drinking my pint of Adnams, if I remember correctly. This room had a plasma screen and numerous rugby shirts up on the walls, but none of them seemed to be English… tut tut.

There is a small alcove with some sofas in it towards the back of the pub and there is also another plasma screen in the small main bar where the locals were all hanging out.

The barmaid was very friendly, but I don't think that I'll be returning.

down a small side street off of Clifton Road ( look for The Robert Browning on the corner) London Pride and Adnams on offer cosy little pub and well worth a visit.
