I've driven past this old roadhouse a number of times when heading for West Wycombe. Having visited all the pubs in the village, I thought I would give this one ago.

An impressive garden to take advantage of on a Bank Holiday. With the sun shining, it was pleasantly busy.

The staff looked like they were struggling - and had left the inside bar unmanned for a good 10 minutes, until quite a queue had built up. Fortunately, a sense of British fair play was maintained and my position at first to the bar was observed and honoured :-)

A choice of Landlord, London Pride and two from Rebellion. I tried a first Smugglers from that brewery and it was in fine condition.

Taken outside, where they have another bar :-)

I dont think it had any of the cask on there, so I made the correct decision.

Located on the A40 at the bottom of Dashwood Hill, this would have done a roaring trade before the advent of the M40, so it was a surprise to enter here on a Tuesday night to find it packed, with a plethora of motorbikes out front. A rough L-shape, you enter bottom left with the bar facing and a fireplace stack to the ceiling open either side suggesting this is a former two-roomer. The room bends around to the right of the bar back to an area given over to diners. Beams have been painted over in black, and if you half-close your eyes, you can kind of make out the roadside inn the must have once been, and despite its no frills demeanour, some boxes are being ticked here, so a MOTR score of 5 is probably about right here. (Oh, and beers were Sharp's Doom Bar, Rebellion IPA, Rebellion Zebedee and Rebellion Winter Royal).
