So-so pub in Fitzrovia, just to the east of Fitzroy Square. Well described below, but the live sport TV had drawn in a rather sweary football crowd which resulted in a less than convivial atmosphere. We drank up and left having experienced the urinals which are surmounted by TV screens. There's a target stuck to the side of the bowl and if you hit it, your score comes up on the screen.

Ales on: GK Abbot, IPA, IPA Gold, Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Moreland's Old Speckled Hen and Hogsback's TEA (£2.00 a half and fine).

I avoid sports pubs so won't return; sport aside The Smugglers Tavern up the road is better.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Grafton Arms

The little roof garden is the main feature of interest here - although at one time it used to be the place to escape from the smoke (but is now the opposite). Not that much space in the the narrow rectangular bar but there are a few patio tables outside on the pavement. It also has an upstairs room, but this usually seems to be reserved for private functions. Although a Greene King house, it thankfully has a guest ale policy so Elgood's CXXX (£3.90) was available in addition to IPA Gold, Old Speckled Hen, Abbot and the seasonal Fireside from the five handpumps on my latest visit.

This is another Greene King house, but it had a greater range of beers than one normally expects from this brewery's pubs. I went for the Milestone Donner and Blitzed (£3.60 a pint), but they also had on Rockin Rudolph, GKIPA, Abbot and Old Speckled Hen. There were clipboard menus on all the tables, advertising main course at around £7.50 - £9, and sarnies for £6.50 - £7.

This pub has a typical layout - a few tables and chairs as you enter; bar counter on the left with a couple of tall tables/stools on the right; then a bit of banquette seating and standard tables and chairs past the bar counter. There was a staircase on the right, possibly leading to the previously mentioned roof garden, but I didn't spot any signs to that effect. The dull green painted walls provide a contrast to the red upholstered banquettes and stools. The flooring is light coloured replacement boarding; a few gilt framed mirrors dominate the decor; and there was a TV on the back wall, but switched off when I was in on Wednesday afternoon.

There's nothing special about this pub that I could see (although I didn't find the roof garden). It's better than some; not as good as others. It's comfortable enough, but as I'm not overly keen on Greene King ales it won't be top of my list, although the Donner and Blitzed was a decent enough drink.

During my recent visit there was some good banter going on in here between the Aussie Barmaid and some of the locals. It's a shame that this is a Greene King pub as only Old Speckled Hen, IPA and Abbot were available, although there was limited selection of standard and premium lagers.

I didn't venture up onto the roof terrace, but I will make a point of it when next in the area.

Not a bad place, Seats out the front and a smoking area upstairs on the roof terrace. 5 Taps for real ale. Service to be improved though. Ordered a pint of Gem, the girl behind the bar pulled it, then sat carried on reading her magazine. I waited until the pint had settled and asked for a top up, she pointed to a non existant line on the glass, said someting about hops (no idea what she was on about) then topped it up. Anyway, disabled access available on request.
