Graham Coombs left this review about The Two Brewers

A very traditional pub in theatreland with a fair amount of wood panelling to the reasonably comfortable interior. Numerous theatrical photos adorn the walls and a couple of TVs thankfully had the sound off. Sadly the beer was not up to much, with only IPA, Abbot and London's Glory on draught.

A pub of some sorts has existed here since at least early Victorian times but the present building with its faience tiling looks as though it’s early Edwardian.
As mentioned, it has quite a traditional interior with a carpet and swag curtains. There’s some eclectic knick-knacks and the walls to the rear snug are adorned with photos of famous actors, some autographed. Sport was being shown on the TV with the sound off; muted music played. However, the music was drowned out by the somewhat lubricated young cacophonous crowd which made for a rather unsettling environment – there was even a bouncer in the pub, which is an absolute no-no for this reviewer, especially when combined with flashing games machines; is this pub always rammed?
Ales: Greene King’s Abbot, IPA and Scrum Down (the Rugby’s on) at a passable £2.30 a half and reasonable by GK standards.
There’s a charming pub here struggling to get out: attractive from the exterior and a traditional interior but the exclusive GK beer choice, rowdy crowd, games machine, sport TV and – especially – the indoor bouncer mean that I’ve no desire to return as if it’s like this mid-week, what’s it like on a Friday or Saturday?

A charming interior ,traditional and with lots of features but sadly tied to Greene King .It's quite small with impressive drapes around the front windows, seating around an unused fireplace with small alcoves opposite the modest bar with a good bar back. There is lots of wood panelling everywhere. The best part is at the rear, with a large curved leather banquettes with three brittania tables,an interesting sky light with mosaic glass and lots of pictures of actors, including a large one of Buster Keaton.
Sadly the food options come from a corporate GK pub grub menu ,but thankfully on my early evening trip most folk were just drinking and food didn't dominate. The muzak was a touch too loud and not needed, but at least the flatscreen was turned off.
At the bar three handpumps offering GK London Glory and Westerham 1760 Special Pale Ale (clear but a malty brew not to my taste) while the third handpump was clipped with Hackney Best Bitter but with a sign that it was still conditioning, shame.
Live jazz on Sunday evenings shows some community feel, and higher marks would have been awarded if the ale was more exciting.Worth a look.

Lively enough this Tuesday afternoon but regrettably no decent ale. The barmaid was friendly enough, hence the 6.

Small L-shaped Taylor Walker outlet in Theatreland with some preserved exterior tiling. Unexpectedly nice cosy interior - red carpet, curtains, leather banquettes, wood panelling and some rather fetching backlit inlaid cabinets displaying a collection of bottles. Also a nice wooden bar back with a raised inlaid clock. Stained glass skylight to rear. Various bits of theatre ephemera to look at, including black and white publicity shots of the old stars. Three ales on; GK IPA, Doom Bar and Twickenham Winter Cheer (good nick). Exceptionally friendly barmaid, who gave us a cheeky ‘locals’ discount, presumably because we were friendly and polite and actually took the time to say hello to her. Overall, quite a good visit.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Two Brewers

A reasonably compact Taylor Walker pub in the Seven Dials area just north of Covent Garden, it has an attractive appearance with plenty of hanging baskets and such like outside and consists of a single room internally with a traditional style.

Décor wise, there is red patterned carpet on the floor and some bookcase style wallpaper along the top of the walls with plenty of black and white portrait photographs elsewhere, many of them of stars from the nearby theatres. Some wood partitions along the right hand side of the pub were inlaid with glass panels and this broke up the seating area in to individual booths. The seating itself was predominantly red button back bench seating along with small stools. Glass cupboards to the left housed a collection of bottles and there were a couple of “What’s on” boards on the walls as well as an old map of London. There was also a plasma screen showing a news channel, although the volume was off so this was not too intrusive. A blackboard listed a selection of pub snacks such as nachos and such like, although whether more substantial meals are available I’m not sure.

Beers on tap were Thwaites Wainwright, Greene King IPA and Doom Bar, the latter of which appeared to be in poor condition and very cloudy. Whilst something else was offered in it’s place when requested, it seemed apparent that they would have been quite happy to serve it had it not been queried. The solitary cider was a rather disappointing Aspall’s Suffolk.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Two Brewers

Perfectly reasonable Covent Garden pub run by Taylor Walker, with traditional furniture and decor in the small 'L'-shaped bar, and usually less crowded than most. Three handpumps on the counter, all dispensing Greene King beers on this visit: IPA, Old Speckled Hen and the One Hop Stop collaboration with Sadler's (£3.92 after 10% Camra discount).

The pub has quite a striking exterior with a well preserved white glazed tiled façade, the pub name picked out in lettering and embellished by a few well tended flowering baskets. The interior didn't disappoint, a long narrowish fully carpeted room returning slightly either side of the bar situated in the middle of a side wall, lots of dark wood, the bar back is carved and has a raised clock with the pub name. Wood panelling, full height in areas, dark red ceiling with gold coving, décor includes the inevitable framed scenes with the back wall emblazoned with theatre flyers. Seating is reassuringly traditional with lots of small round tables towards the front, a drinking shelf with stools opposite the bar and more seating to the rear which would suit larger groups.
There are a couple of TVs, one had the play off final on, the other a news channel, both muted however as background music played. Food is served, cod and chips £11.99, lasagne and garlic bread £7.99. Live jazz advertised on Sunday evenings.
Three handpumps, Pride, Doom Bar and Black Sheep Bitter. There was a display case labelled "Boutique Beers" whatever that means but with Blue Moon, Budvar and Peroni on display I'd dispute the claim.
I did however really like the pub, a traditional almost time warp feel, a better selection of real ales would make this a very desirable place indeed.

Not much to add to previous reviews - a quiet and traditional little boozer with a plasma screen (on my visit showing the rugby union but its default setting is sky news) in the front part of the building. The other end of the building is somewhat darker although there are some interesting small stained glass windows near the ceiling. Doom Bar, Youngs London Gold and Woodeford's Wherry (£3.31) available and in good nick. It was doing a reasonable lunch trade when I popped in; It is a reasonable and well-looked after pub.

The Two Brewers is a decent traditional style single room pub in the middle of Theatre land on Upper St Martins Lane. A nice, more traditional pub interior with lots of pictures, mainly related to the local theatres as mentioned below. Its quite small inside so you will do well to get a seat but does have some outside seating on good days.
Three handpumps on the bar , which were Youngs London Gold, Doombar and Abbotts during my visit and the London Gold was a well kept pint.
