The Blue Bell is a long and thin village pub with bare boards and exposed beams as well as stone brickwork walls, columns and a fireplace that sits on the front wall. The front section has tables set for dining with knives, forks, napkins and lunch menus. My recent midweek visit was just before midday so I decided to have some lunch. I was told the kitchen opens at noon so I had to wait the five minutes before ordering food, which I found a little odd being as I was the only customer. I went for the loaded chilli chips for £5 which was excellent value for money.
The bar counter is located half way along the pub, the three hand pumps were drawing Lacons Brewery’s Encore, Stoney Ford’s Blue Bell and Brewster’s Brewery’s Summer Day. Premium and craft keg were also available alongside Guinness. Steps at the side of the bar lead up to the back bar where some armchairs and high tables are found. Up the right side of the pub is a patio that leads to a large grass covered beer garden with picnic tables, many of which are shaded by large trees. This pub is very much preferable to the services so I’m sure to be popping in again when traversing the A43.

Very much a village pub, with a good range of beers. One main room, divided by a fireplace, with a games room behind the bar and a large garden area.

A terrific pub and restaurant at the heart of this special village. Excellent classic and seasonal dishes prepared with Italian flair and great ingredients. Great beers and a friendly welcome, and a garden big enough to occupy the kids for ages. Not only worth a detour, worth moving to the village for.
