Steve of N21 left this review about The Fox & Hounds

The Buckinghamshire village of Chalfont St Giles, now famous for being used for the modern day posh cockney rhyming slang, is on one of my routes home when the M25 misbehaves itself and is ideally placed for a half way pint. The village still retains three traditional pubs dotted around the village green and the Fox and hounds a short distance up Silver Hill is the best of these in my honest opinion.
This 350 year old traditional thatched pub has an interior to match with original Oak beams and an open log fire. The internal lay out is a bit small but it does retain that historic feel and is uncluttered by having no games machines, no TV and no music being played.
The bar supports three handpumps with Adnams bitter almost permanent and on my visits the others have rotated around Doombar, Spitfire and Black Sheep. So not the most exciting offering, but that has to be weighed against the fact that they are excellently well kept and I’ve never had anything short of a spot on pint in here.
I’ve never tried it but the pub has a reputation for fantastic homemade food and the menu is traditional British pub food at sensible prices.
A small word of warning in that the landlord has been incumbent for a while and to some may come across as a bit brusque, or on the wrong side of rude. This especially relates to mobile phones which are banned to be used in the pub. However take it in your stride, remember it's his pub not yours, and turn them off and you will be fine.
