We decided to visit this pub for a lunch time stop. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. This was accompanied by a welcome pint of tasty Taylors Landlord.
It is very rare to find such a comfortable and atmospheric place to enjoy food and drink. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming to all.

A cloudburst coincided with our proximity to this eccentrically spelt pub, which made the decision of which Louth pub to patronise an easy one. We're glad that we chose this one, as it's a lovely old pub with wood panelling, settles and benches, and dark beams. A small front room extends either side of the entrance, and there's a dining room to the rear. The small bar in the corner has four hand pumps, serving Timothy Taylor Landlord and Golden Best, Greene King Old Speckled Hen and Wadworth 6x at the time of our visit.

The oldest pub in Louth, this apparently dates back to 1612 as a coaching inn. It is a very cosy little pub, with separate areas, traditional beams and a real fire. On my visit, six handpulls were offering Theakston Best, Wadworth 6X, Hardy & Hansons Rocking Rudolph, and Old Rosie cider, with the fifth vacant. A sign announced the next guest ale to be Bateman’s Rosey Nosey. My Rocking Rudolph was in good condition and I think cost £3.30.
Dishes on the main menu were priced at around £7-8 (which was more than advertised on the menu displayed outside the front door) and we had the salmon fishcakes and the beef and ale pie, which took some time to arrive, were very generously portioned and extremely tasty. I also noticed an Italian night advertised for Tuesdays and a curry night on Thursdays. I have seen on the trip advisor site some rubbish reviews of the food here, and whilst I haven’t tried the restaurant menu I can certainly say we found the pub grub to be really good. I’d happily come back here to drink and/or eat.

This is a really nice looking pub in the middle of Louth.
Once inside this pub has got quite a cosy feel to it and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Black Sheep bitter which was a decent drink the other beer was London Pride.
I thought this was quite a nice pub to have a few drinks in.
