Plough Boy is a small local boozer that had two other customers during a recent Thursday early evening visit. They both became quite vocal when a Premier League football match kicked off on the televisions throughout. I think it was Brighton v Man U, so I’m not sure why they were so invested. There is seating in the windows either side of the central entrance, banquettes to the right and high tables on a carpeted area to the left. Wood flooring runs around the L-shaped bar counter on the left wall and in the seating area to the right rear were the aforementioned sports fanatics were sitting. There is a dartboard up on the wall, one of those black ones with no trebles ring or 25 around the bull. Out the back is a small covered seating area for smokers. I found the service to be very friendly, but both hand pumps were unused which left only standard and premium keg. I walked past better pubs to get here so I don’t think a revisit is on the cards.

Dartboard to rear of the front door. Bar to the left side. One reversed hand pump (Thwaites), the rest keg.

Soup Dragon summed the pub up nicely, it's the people who make it! A nice mixture of ages and everyone was friendly and willing to have a chat even though the Town was under siege due to the Christmas Market.

I had a very well kept pint of an Xmas Ale and one of their splendid beefburgers.

True, it's maybe not a pub you would visit on the way to the Opera but if you like real ale and real people then you shouldn't miss it.

An end terrace little cottage-styled pub with patio area. The pub is in white, with red paintwork and has a central entrance flanked by a couple of windows and two 4-pane sash windows on the upper storey.

The interior had a couple of rooms once, served by a single bar, but has now been opened up into an open-plan room, with the bar at the bottom of a U-shape arrangement. The decor has white and wood panel walls, with a white ceiling and a wood floor in the bar area at the front and carpet in the back, which is more lounge-ish. There are a few pictures and prints on the walls. The bar has a dart board without actually having a part board in it! the service was fine and the place was rammed with maturer people celebrating with a karaoke and DJ night, dance and sort of singing! It was a really good atmosphere and very friendly, i was even asked to dance within mintues of arriving, despite not having a tattoo.

Beer; usual tap stuff, with one real ale - Grafton Moonshire, which was decent.

A really enjoyed my stop off here, simply because the people made the place. A good community pub, with a decent real ale on.
