Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Tollemache Inn (JD Wetherspoon)

Seemingly routine 'spoons housed in a fine old building at the south end of the High Street area (with most other pubs located in the older area further north). However, with many places currently doing a limited cask beer selection as they come out of lockdown, this one bucks the trend with at least nine of the handpumps in three banks of five in use. Better still, there was a good selection of non-standard offerings, including three real ales from Milestone (and my pint of the Rich Ruby red ale was excellent value at £2.15) and a pair from Zest.

L shaped Spoons with an old skool brown and mushroom interior, which is perhaps a little smaller than their normal offerings. Apparently one of the first JDW’s to be opened outside of the capital. Named, as amusingly noted below, after Grantham’s second most famous politician. The large arched windows are of interest. Three genuine guest ales on - my Brewsters Porter was decent and Deggy’s was reported good too. Toilets are a long hike, I advise you set-off early before the floodgates are being bulged. Ate breakfast here the following day and it was classic Spoons with plenty of locals putting the world to rights over a few pre-midday beers. I had a soft spot for this one, but maybe that’s more a reflection of the Grantham pub scene than anything else?

The Tollemache Inn is a Wetherspoons pub that is situated in the meddle of Grantham and fairly close to the train station,so handy for me to have a quick drink in while waiting for a connecting train to Nottingham after a train up from Hitchin.
Once inside there is a large L shaped room with the bar facing, there is the usual Spoons seating and the room is carpeted.
I only had time for a very quick half, which was Grainstore Ten Fifty, this went down well,i did not have time to note other real ales on the bar.
It seemed to be a decent enough Wetherspoons on my quick visit.

The Tollemache Inn is named after a former Grantham politician so they could have chosen a far worse name. It's said to be one of the earliest Spoons to open outside the London area and looks it as it's very much a large old school JDW barn and nothing like an Inn. It's roughly an L shaped room with a lower area at the back and inevitably the toilets up a huge staircase.
Although there are three sets of five hand pumps the bank down the side only added Adnam's Broadside to the mix. The front ten had the two GK beers, one unused, Milestone Azacca Gold, GK Abbot Reserve, Long Man Old Man, a Marston Xmas beer, Newby Wyke Dragon, Everard's Red Ale and Grainstore Rutland Panther. I went for the Newby Wyke Dragon (£2.65) which was excellent.
Although this is an older Spoons it had a decent beer choice and seemed to be well run. It's GBG 2017 listed.

Standard Spoons - usual beers and a useful place to wait for the train.

Basic run of the mill Spoons pub set at a busy crossroads with a fair range of cask beers on the go.As the previous reviewers point out it has an L shaped bar with a lower area to the right that seems to be mainly used by the diners. The better half was a tad nonplussed by the poor state of the toilets saying they were a bit grubby with a broken toilet seat, and was even more nonplussed about there being no coffee of any description available.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Tollemache Inn (JD Wetherspoon)

This Spoons is in the top 30 for sales of real ales in their group. This is a large L-shaped pub with a lower section towards the back, deco crimson and cream. 10 ales on, the usual Abbott, also Brewsters Cheval Mort, Brewsters Hop a Doodle Doo, Woods Athletes Ale, Newby Wyke Black Funnel, Newby Wyke Arundel, Butcombe Mendip Spring, Banks Original and Oldershaw Old Boy.

Roger Button left this review about Tollemache Inn (JD Wetherspoon)

Named after Grantham’s second most famous politician (whose statue stands outside the pub), this large spacious Wetherspoons does have a good selection of locally sourced guest beers that make it worthy of a visit even to non-Spoons fans. Among the 10 handpumps I only noted Abbott as a regular ‘Spoons offering with a number of Newby Wyke ales prominent among the guests. The L-shaped interior is split into 3, a rather faceless front section, a middle sofa area and a sunken extension but overall, the décor is what you would expect, not much character but quite light and airy. My lunchtime visit found the place populated by the “old lonely men” brigade and a woman offering her entire medical history to the world. The usual history and local celebrity snippets that Spoons dig up are actually quite interesting and range from Hornsby engineering and bouncing bombs to that other famous Grantham politician although Tories may be a bit miffed that she is relegated to a small display near the bogs. The small rear patio garden is of more use to smokers than anyone who fancies a bit of tan topping. In short, an unremarkable building but certainly worth a visit for its ale selection.
