Community pub that sits opposite the village school. With large yellow zig zags painted all around the village to prevent parking, you have to be lucky to bag a spot in the pub's fairly small car park. We took the last spot and were followed in by people who had been dropped off, whilst the driver looked for somewhere to park.

From the car park, you enter the pub through the beer garden and past the village shop. This pub has been completely modernised inside, creating a bright interior that lacks any traditional touches.

Most people were in for lunch on our Wednesday visit. We appeared to be the only ones there just for the drink. Timothy Taylor Landlord & Bateman's Gold are the regular beers. I opted for the rugby-themed Bateman's Hooker.

Good to see another pub saved by the community.

I am writing this review as one of the pub's 200 shareholders and member of the managing committee.

The Thorold (formerly The Thorold Arms) is a community-owned pub bought from a developer after it closed its doors in July 2015. It is a pub, restaurant and café in the Lincolnshire village of Marston just 6 miles North of Grantham and close to the A1.

The pub is a Free House with great quality cask ales. Our brewery of choice is Batemans who also supply us with ciders, keg beers, lagers and Guinness as well as a great range of soft drinks, mixers, wines and spirits. We also have regular guest ales.

A selection of locally sourced food is served through the café, bar and restaurant. The hours of service are displayed on the website.

We are family and dog-friendly and look forward to seeing you soon.
Come and visit our tranquil, traditional pub set in the heart of the Lincolnshire Countryside.
