A country pub with a slant on food, this suffered an almost-catastrophic fire a few years back, losing the roof, but those in charge saw fit to rebuild and this continues to be busy - frequented by diners and drinkers, who fill the tables in the patio-cum-garden out front in the Summer months. The front part of the building retains original low beams and open brick fireplace along with quarry tiles. Eating areas to the left and beyond are newer (and higher-ceilinged). Two beers out of three in Sharp's Doom Bar and Fuller's London Pride, with a second Pride clip reversed. A keg pale ale ('Sumo') by local-ish brewery Mad Squirrel also spotted. A couple of Hawkes cider bottles and a Thornbridge Versa bottle spotted in the fridge. £4.20 for the Pride seemed a bit out of sorts but was in good shape nonetheless.

Just had dinner at this pub. Very nice interior. Nice menu. I had the cantaloupe, watermelon and prosciutto starter, the roasted chicken entree and the roasted root vegetables. All were very good.
