An Everards pub that has had a fairly recent refurb - but done well with the retention of the old Lounge and Public bars, with a games room behind. The Public is situated to the left, with the early afternoon locals eyeing-up the darts corridor. The Lounge on the right has tasteful decor, a curved burgundy banquette and a bit of wood (oak?) panelling. A friendly landlady in situ had an impromptu chat whilst pouring my beer, clocking me as a unknown face. Four Everards ales on; Tiger (NBSS 3), Old, Beacon Hill and Golden Hop – looks like there are no longer guest beers. I enjoyed my stay in here and would be inclined to use it if I were local. 7.5

It's always good to find another gem when on your travels - well the Star definitely is worthy of a ten. It is a very comfortable and welcoming pub that is hard to leave. This two roomed pub consists of an oak panelled room on the left, which would be the main bar and the right hand room, which would be the traditional lounge side. The lounge side displayed their eight handpumps, four Everards, three guest and a cider.
We found the manageress and son to be friendly and chatty, as too were the locals. We went for the Everards Tiger and Beacon and two from Blue Monkey. Their ales were supreme and we were told they sell a lot, no surprise there. Also they serve good food. All in all a very well run pub.
