Long and aged looking brick building with a thatched roof and whitewashed frontage, which laughs in face of right angles and plumb lines. Pretty opened-out inside but retains an element of being a locals boozer. Three ales on; Gales Seafarers, Everards Tiger and something I wrote down as being called ‘poets tickle’ but that’s probably my phone realising I was pissed and trying to autocorrect me on the sly. Anyway, it was in good enough shape. We also encountered a couple of nutty locals, Withnail minus I and Maggot from the Goldie Lookin Chain. Not quite sure I can share Al’s unbridled enthusiasm for the place!
