Quinno _ left this review about The Plough Inn

After failing to bag this one on the first day as pub#2 of our Rutland challenge, we decided to head back and get some dinner there was we’d heard positive things about the food. It’s a nice old skool place inside, L shaped with a red pub carpet and a general air of timelessness. Also came with good reviews from the local CAMRA branch and there were four pumps dispensing Grainstore Monkey, Grainstore Red Kite and Pheasantry Excitra – all beers were in very good shape. Also an extensive list of country wines, so I had to have one (plum and horse manure, or something). A bit of a wait for grub but what came out was very nice and properly home-made. We got chatting to Gene the guv’nor, who was a good egg. I thought this was possibly the best all-round pub Rutland had to offer. 8.5
