Typical village pub in tiny village which would be very pleasant but for the constant background noise from the motorway. Very quite on the Friday evening when we stopped by, a few friendly locals around the bar and a couple sat down enjoying a Chinese takeaway. Marstons related beers (eg Jennings) plus guests get it into the 2014 GBG. I suspect we didn't catch it at its best but it's certainly a better stop on the trek up the M6 than the motorway services.

Absolute gem of a little pub in a quiet village. This brick-built pub has a room either side of the bar, the larger feeling slightly more public bar but sadly including a TV (or is that just me?), and an adjoining dining room featuring table skittles. A good selection of four (changing) ales in very good form explains the Good Beer Guide listing, while the food is nice, simple pub fare and extremely good value. Amusing outdoor smoking area, made to look like a railway station, with a garden beyond the car park. Mind the rather narrow vehicle entrance, by the way. Close to M1/M6 Junction (not accessible all directions). Strongly recommended - I'd knock off a point for the TV but balanced by several bonuses.
