Decent enough pub, but another with six hand pumps and nothing above 4.5% ABV. Shame.

Last pub before the station and unlike many of the other good beer pubs in town, the Tap was deserted at 7pm. We had a couple of decent pints and played some pool before legging it for the train. Not as good as other pubs locally, but still worth a visit.

I had a bit of a flying visit to this one on the way back to the station. It was a large single room with a rather prominent pool table and some board games stacked in a corner.
The beer selection was disappointing compared to other pubs I had been to. I noticed Bateman's XB and Black & White, Brewster's Hophead, Abbeydale Deception and a cider. I went for the Abbeydale Deception (£3.10) which was in great nick.
Bateman's beers seem to be popular in Loughborough but having two on in a GBG listed Free House didn't quite seem right.

Large open plan one roomed pub which can be split into two. The pub also has a beer garden. The pub is a free house and serves up to ten real ales including four or five from rarely scene micro breweries. All ales on top form on our visits, and just a short walk from the town centre towards the railway station (Midland) not GCR.

A short walk from the station on the way into town, this is Loughborough's premier ale house.A very good selection of well kept beers, many of the rotating guests are from local micros and an authentic 70's interior with comfortable low backed seating booths on the right and a pool table in the bar area. This is a totty freezone but comfort yourself with excellent ales such as 12 Monkeys from Oakham.Never rammed ,a must visit in L'boro and thoroughly deserving its GBG entry.

I agree with both Mr Boyes and Mr Sharman, the inside is old fashioned but perfectly clean and comfortable with both bar and lounge areas but, most importantly, the beer here is excellent. Our visit found 6 real ales on from a variety of smaller breweries spanning a range of strengths and styles. The pick was Oakham's 12 Monkeys, which seems to be a special edition, and ran out unfortunately. We also tried very acceptable pints of Brentwood Gold from the Brentwood Brewing Company and Moonshine from Abbeydale. The place for a quality pint in Loughborough.

A bit old fashioned inside but very clean and tidy. The attraction here is the vast selection of real ales, always in top condition.
Easy to miss at night because it's not well lit outside.

To say this bar is old fashioned doesnt do the place justice.

Its like the seventies re-imagined all over again.

A real gem of a pub, a proper old fashioned boozer. Serving 11 real ales constantly changing but with regular beers that return quite frequently. The mains ones are Abbyedale and Rooster beers. There is a nice self contained beer garden with a large aviary. The landlord takes great pride in the condition of his beers and will never serve a pint that is not in peak condition. The locals are great when you get to know them. Do not miss it!
