Just outside an Aylesbury that is slowly creeping northwards, this pub is located just off a small, tight A-bend in the centre of the tiny hamlet of Weedon and is deliciously country pubby, with a tiny interior predominantly consisting of wood, beams and flagstones in merry harmony. Entering up a couple of steps onto a narrow 'patio' awash with flowers, you walk into a small, bare-boarded area with upholstered bench seats with red and gold flower patterns facing each other, separated by four dark wooden tables and corresponding chairs between. There's a small brick fireplace against the right-hand wall and some old photographs of the pub and hamlet life adorn the cream artex walls. The small, dark wooded bar is located to the left which is semi-rectangular and serves two rooms as a raised area by a flight of wooden steps links the entire room to a flagstoned floor area to the bar's right, which has its own, open fireplace with obligatory horse brasses over the mantelpiece. Two cyclists occupied a table in this room and were served generous plates of ham, eggs and chips, which ticks another box. A doorway at the bottom left of this room, leads to a standalone, sunken dining area. The toilets are located down a long, sloping corridor which appears to have been roofed over at some stage. Solitary ale was Tring Side Pocket For A Toad, priced at £3.70 for a pint and which was in good shape (two other pumps were unclipped). As an adjunct, Weedon is the current holder of the tidiest village under 500 in population in Bucks, and a trophy to that effect resides in the corner of the right-hand room.
