Alan Winfield left this review about The Steam Trumpet

The Steam Trumpet is set sideways onto the main street and it is just down the road from the Bricklayers Arms.
The room we went in was fairly basic with chunky wooden tables and a stone floor there was also a dart board in this room and i quite liked having a drink in here, there was another room that was up a couple of steps this looked more like a lounge and it was also bussier than the lower room.
There were three real ales on the bar and all these were from the Steaming Billy brewery i had a drink of Steaming Billy bitter and this was a really nice drink the other beers were Sky Diver and Tipsy Fisherman.
We quite liked this pub and with another decent pub just up the road makes Thornton well worth a visit.

Thiis actually the Steam Trumpet, not the Steam Packet! No nautical theme here, it's part of the Steaming Billy group. Only been here once and briefly, but a good choice of real ales and a friendly welcome at this village pub will lure me back again. Food has been recommended byothers and looked good, but I haven't tried it.
