Flagstone floors, a snug, original leaded windows and beams. We parked ourselves up at the end of the bar area and perused the beers, which were Tetley's Original, Wainwright and Moorhouse's White Witch. I opted for the Moorhouse's, which was in excellent condition, the first pint didn't even touch the sides. The beer prices were excellent and the service was brilliant.

a decent friendly village pub. it was more wet led than food led on an afternoon though it’s very posh and rural with quite a few dogs in. There are two rooms, the big opened out one and the side snug. Four ales on which were Swan Blonde (Bowland), a Jennings Christmas beer, Wainwrights and Tetleys Cask. The bar is divided into two by a fireplace so make sure you don’t miss the final handpump. I’d be happy enough to drink here if I was local but I suspect it gets very busy at foody times.

The Windmill is, in my experience, by far and away the best pub in Parbold for beer, food and atmosphere.
Mr Fastard describes it well so I won't duplicate but it is a very comfortable place to be for either a beer or something to eat and the welcome is friendly and warm.
The food which I had, red snapper with pea and prawn risotto, was excellent and well cooked.
Beer selection is wide with the following on when we visited: Cross Bay Zenith IPA, Tetleys, George Wright Drunken Duck, Woodland Oak Beauty, Bowland Hen Harrier and Slaters Top Totty. All that we tried was in excellent condition.
The Windmill'd be the first pub I'd head to in Parbold and it's unlikely that I'd move.

I was impressed on my visit to this fine old stone built pub, situated next to a former windmill and close to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.Once up the stone steps the bar is to the left and splits into two sections, both with bar stools which are popular with local real ale fans.To the right of the entrance there is a charming side room designed for drinkers who want to be seated around wooden tables, there is a real fireplace and the wood panels have been painted in classy tones. The main body of the pub is given over to dining tables, each with a lit candle.Traditional pub furniture is used throughout and the refurb looked to have consumed a tidy sum of money.
The gents are downstairs where a fine wood advert for Thomas Crapper porcelain hangs on the wall, and this is the way to an attractive paved terrace with good views of the windmill next door.
There are six handpumps and the ale condition was very good .£3.10 for a strong IPA from Cross Bay didn't feel unreasonable. There is knowledgeable service from the friendly team behind the bar.
The food was very good, with gastro style and several daily specials including many fish dishes.Starter generally £4-£6,mains £10-£15 and the portion sizes were generous,so my excellent steak and ale pie was all I needed.
This isn't a restaurant that happens to sell beer, drinkers are as welcome as diners and local CAMRA members are among the regulars.I would expect it to feature in future GBG's given the ale range and condition.
Busy on a wet Monday evening,IMHO the best pub in Parbold, the other establishments seem to be wilting under the pressure from The Windmill. On any revisit to this upmarket village, this would be my first and probably only stopping off point.
