back to a pub (and dining) after a decade as a tapas bar. Apparently privately owned but very much has a pubco feeling to it. bar area is pleasant enough if generic, though the large restaurant tacked onto it is the real point here. Three real alas on currently from the Wigan brewhouse up the road so full marks for that. Will become a ‘worth a visit’ Wigan pub if it keeps the ale.

Now called Casa Carlos. Though it says Spanish Restaurant on the front it very much welcomes just drinkers. Apart from the restaurant bit it does have 2 areas to just drink inside. As you would expect it serves some Spanish beers but it also has a handpump devoted to Copper Dragon beers. These beers are on rotation and today's choice was Golden Pippin. Inside is obviously Spanish themed. A large paved beer garden is outside and you can, if you close your eyes, think about your holidays in Benidorm, Playa de las Americas or possibly Southport. Its quite a nice place and as it was a very sunny and warm day the beer garden was very pleasant.
